STAAR Testing Information

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness otherwise known as the STAAR tests are quickly approaching. Please note the dates of the upcoming STAAR tests and refrain from planning any appointments that may take your child out of school on these dates. Also please note that we ask you to refrain from visiting in all grades levels (PreK-5th grade) on the testing dates due to test security. The testing dates are as follows:

3rd Grade: Monday, May 9th - Math and Tuesday, May 10th - Reading

4th Grade: Monday, May 9th - Math, Tuesday, May 10th - Reading

5th Grade: Monday, May 9th - Math (retest only), Tuesday, May 10th - Reading (retest only), Wednesday, May 11th - Science

Thank you in advance for your help with a successful STAAR administration.

McTeacher Night - April 28th

Please join us at the Porter McDonald's for a night of fun! Remember to let the McDonald's employees know that you are with Porter Elementary either dine in or drive through and a portion of the proceeds will come back to our school! Thanks for your support!

Literacy Night - April 14th

Come and join us in a night of reading and activities! Each grade level will be showcasing a book that you may read with your child along with an activity that can be enjoyed! We hope to see you here! The book fair will also be open until 7:00 pm! All proceeds from the book fair will help to grow our school library!

Feelin' Groovy Book Fair

"Peace, Love & Books!"

This Spring, we will be "Feelin Groovy" about reading at Porter Elementary. Our Spring Book Fair will kick off on Friday, April 8th and will be open daily from April 11-15th, with evening hours during our Literacy Night on April 14th. There will be some great new books available, so plan on stopping by!

Box Tops and Ink Cartridges

PES is collected box tops and empty ink cartridges! These donations benefit our school in more ways than one! Both donation bins can be found by the front office.

Porter Elementary School

Attendance is very important to everyone at Porter Elementary as we teach bell-to-bell and instruction time is precious. Student pick-up will not be allowed after 2:15pm.
