Marching through March

Hello Brigadoon Tigers,

TODAY, March 20th is class picture day!!

March is now in full swing, many thanks to all of you that have been approved to volunteer or have volunteer paperwork in process. It is so lovely having our families as part of our team again. If you would like to volunteer and need more information please call our main office.

I appreciate your supporting us and our students' safety by talking at home about how to keep their hands, feet, and bodies to themselves. Reminding children that we all have a "personal space bubble" is helpful ;) Also, as we reteach and review our PBIS expectations of Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Productive, talk with your child about the use of appropriate and kind language on campus. Everyone deserves to feel safe and welcomed on our campus!

Family Advisory! Everyone is Welcome - We are hosting them on campus with a live zoom option to accommodate and engage more families so we hope to see you all there! Your voice and input is important to us!

Ways to Support your Child in being ready for school each morning on time:

  • Develop a regular bedtime and morning routine.
  • Help your child lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
  • Avoid missing school unless a child is truly sick, or is COVID-19 positive, and seek help if a chronic illness is a challenge.
  • If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other families for advice on how to make her feel comfortable and excited about learning.
  • Reach out to a family member, a neighbor, or another parent if you are having trouble getting your student to school.
  • Arrange medical appointments when school is not in session.
  • Avoid extended vacations when school is in session.

From Our Counselor:

It continues to be a joy having every K-5 classroom come for a lesson with me every other week! Scholars have worked very hard learning about the Zones of Regulation (feelings and self-regulation/calming strategies). Next, we will be learning about problem solving/conflict resolution strategies. We will talk about the difference between small problems and BIG problems and scholars will learn and practice 9 different ways to solve small problems with their peers.

Additionally, please see below for different community resources & an event you might be interested in:

Now, they are on the Emotion Management unit (February-March), which is a great addition to the Zones of Regulation unit scholars recently completed with Miss Natalie, our school counselor!
