WEBINAR: Introduction to Open Educational Resources
In this 30-minute webinar, you will learn the basics of Open Educational Resources: what they are (and are not), how they came to be, and why they are increasingly being used in higher education (as well as K – 12). You will also become familiar with the support available at FSU for OER adoption, use and creation, and also learn about the six-institution DOE-funded ROTEL grant, of which FSU is a member.

September 19 - 23 is Peer Review Week
"Peer Review Week is a community-led yearly global virtual event celebrating the essential role that peer review plays in maintaining research quality. The event brings together individuals, institutions, and organizations committed to sharing the central message that quality peer review in whatever shape or form it may take is critical to scholarly communication."
WEBINAR: Understanding Publishing Agreements
Be honest - do you really, thoroughly read your journal publisher agreements? (If you don’t, or just skim, you’re in good company!) However, understanding publisher agreements is the key to keeping the author’s rights that are most important to you, and key to complying with funder mandates! In this 30-minute webinar, we’ll briefly review author’s rights, then practice reading and understanding typical journal publishing agreements and licenses. Feel free to bring requests for specific journals to examine. I Am Not A Lawyer – but you don’t have to be one, either, to learn how to parse the main points of publisher agreements.

WEBINAR: How to Run an Equity-Centering, Wikipedia Assignment
"Wikipedia is the go-to source for information for much of the world. However, few understand its inner workings, and even fewer still contribute to it, even though it's the encyclopedia that anyone can edit. It's not an exaggeration to say that Wikipedia plays a central role in today's information landscape. The English Wikipedia has more than 6 Million articles, which might seem relatively complete. Impressive though this number may be, Wikipedia is a dynamic enterprise in need of constant updating and expansion. Nowhere is this more true than subjects related to historically marginalized and underrepresented populations, regions, and topic areas. You and your students can play a critical role in ensuring that Wikipedia is up-to-date, reliable, and above all, equitable."

New Open Initiative: The Open Climate Campaign
"Climate change, and the resulting harm to our global biodiversity, is one of the world’s most pressing challenges. While the existence of climate change and the resulting loss of biodiversity is certain, knowledge and data about these global challenges and the possible solutions, mitigations and actions to tackle them are too often not publicly accessible.
