Introducing our New Student Support Teacher
Meet Mr. Parker
Hello Laburnum family! My name is Mr. Parker and I am thrilled to be the new Student Support Teacher. I am a born and raised Indiana Hoosier who has made his way to Richmond by way of Northern Virginia. Starting in 2010 I worked for a combined 11 years in Fairfax County public schools and D.C. Public Schools. During that time, I taught elementary education in 4th and 6th grade, middle school social studies, alternative school social studies, and was a high school dean of students. This past year I served as a middle school assistant principal in Richmond Public Schools.
I hold an Elementary Education Degree from Indiana University as well as a Masters of Educational Leadership from George Mason University. When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my fantastic wife and two-year-old daughter exploring RVA. I also enjoy playing music, hiking, and kayaking. Fun fact…I was a guitar player and singer in a touring band with a record contract for five years in the early 2000’s and even lived in Hollywood for a year. I am a very outgoing person and can’t wait to meet all of the families and students in the Laburnum community.
Education has always been dear to my heart. I love being a part of the process in elementary school that empowers students with foundational tools to set them up for success throughout life. I can’t wait to start our new adventure for the 2022-2023 school year. Let’s make it a great one Lions!
