MSDE Rating System

Hello Raider Nation --

I hope you all are enjoying the “Gift of Time!”

Monday is PIP day. Please be sure to bring your laptops! We will have two presentations – one on school improvement and another on scheduling for 2019 – 2020 (yes, it’s that time!).

If you recall, during our first week back in August, I mentioned the new accountability measures from MSDE. Last week, MSDE released school report cards and star ratings. I am very pleased to report that Atholton earned five stars in this new accountability system. You may view our school report card below or click here. I want to take this opportunity to thank each of you who work tirelessly to ensure our students receive quality instruction on a daily basis. However, we cannot rest on our laurels. We earned a score of 77% with 75% being the cutoff for five star status. Our achievement scores are certainly an area to examine for improvement. As we transition to the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP formerly known as PARCC) this will become even more scrutinized. That is to say, we need EVERYONE (students, teachers, and parents) to support efforts that help to ensure students are achieving at their highest level possible on these assessments.

As we enter the holiday season, I am pleased to announce that Atholton, with the support of our Boosters programs, will host a community STUFF THE BUS event. At athletic and music events, we will collect food donations. In addition, the AHS Letterman Club will place boxes throughout the school for students to deposit food items. This food collection drive will culminate in stuffing a school bus with all the items on Saturday, December 15 from 10am – 12pm. We want to fill/stuff the bus so please donate food items! A huge THANK YOU to Mike Senisi for organizing this!

See you tomorrow!

Robert
