Nohl Canyon's LEGO LEAGUE TEAM Competes at UC Riverside
The team has been working together for the last 8 weeks and demonstrated collaboration, teamwork, and innovative thinking in achieving their success.
The team is led by Ms. Trenner and Ms. Moberly.
Saturday's team included: Dylan Pool (4th), Cameron Knudson (4th), Caleb Kong (4th), Ameer Kloub (5th), Ibrahim Syed (6th), Janae Johnson (6th), Jaya Shah (6th), Jewel Yett (6th), Cecilia McCall (6th).

LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) Survey opens for Students, Parents and Staff - Please Complete!
LCAP Survey: OUSD LCAP Parent Survey
The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) survey is now open for ALL parents to complete. OUSD truly wants to hear from you on this survey as these results will guide the (LCAP) for the 2023-2024 school year. A "Win the Day" challenge/goal for our parents is to have every family complete the survey!!
In addition to responses coming from families, students (3rd-6th) and all staff have the opportunity to complete the LCAP survey. The link for students and staff is available on their OUSD dashboard.

Running Springs IB Academy - Opening for 7th grade students in 2023-2024
Orange Unified is excited to announce that Running Springs Academy will be opening a 7th grade next year (and an 8th grade the following year). This will make Running Springs Academy the second K-8th grade school in Orange Unified School District. Running Springs has been designated as a World International Baccalaureate School and will continue the program through 7th and 8th grade. We have a parent information night coming up on November 30th at 6:00 pm (see attached information flyer). Coastal Art & Poetry Contest for K-12 students
California students in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to submit artwork or poetry with a California coastal or marine theme. Application deadline is January 31, 2023. For rules, contest flyer, entry form, and helpful links for teachers and students, visit https://www.coastal.ca.gov/art-poetry/.Up to ten winners will be selected to win $100 to an art store (art winners) or $100 to a bookstore (poetry winners). Each winner will also receive four tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Each winner's sponsoring teacher will receive a $50 gift certificate for educational supplies, courtesy of Acorn Naturalists.
Cell Phone Use - "NO CELL, BELL to BELL"
1) NO CELL from BELL to BELL - cell phones need to be turned OFF and stored in students backpack from first bell to dismissal bell.
2) Students who need to contact parents/guardians are expected to come to the front office to make the phone call.
3) Students who do not follow the guidelines:
1st occurrence: warning - expected to place phone back in backpack
2nd occurrence: cell phone confiscated - Parent Pick-up in office

OUSD is hiring for Substitute Teachers!
Immediate Substitute Teacher Positions Available
We are looking for certificated substitute teachers to help our elementary and secondary schools. If you have a bachelor’s degree, we can help you through the process to become a substitute and support your local school. We currently have substitute positions available immediately and the current pay is $160.10 for the full-day (tier 1) and can go up to $195.33 for the full day (tier 2). This is a great position for any person with a bachelor’s degree looking to help our schools while earning extra income.
