IB Test Registration

In the coming weeks, we will begin registering the juniors and seniors for their IB exams. The IB registration fee has been dropped by the international organization (yay!!), so the only expense is the cost of each exam- $119. A $100 deposit (minimum payment) is due by October 15, 2019, for all students who will be testing in May 2020, and the final payment is due by February 17, 2020. Free & reduced lunch students will pay a discounted rate.

You do not need to do anything at this time! We will send home invoices in mid-September/early October with specific directions and total costs.

We have new IB members!

We are proud to introduce the newest members of our IB family! These 6 month old brothers are dumbo rats ("fancy rats") and are sweet and smart. We are in the process of naming them, and we'll let you know as soon as they have names.

In the meantime, we have an Amazon wishlist and would love your support with food, bedding, or toys:https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/UBU19NJ2S0PD?ref_=wl_share If you don't already support a charity through Amazon, you could choose the IB Booster Club! We also need paper towels and Chewy.com or Amazon.com gift cards for future food purchases.

As you can imagine, our IH/IB students enjoy watching them and some even like to hold these curious boys. They've added some life and a family feel to our IB office, and it's fun to see the kids with our new pets.

IB Lanyards for sale

Are you looking for a lanyard on which you can proudly display your Plano East badge? The IBSSA is selling IB lanyards for $3.00. Purchase from Mrs. Holloway in Room B1-207 or Ms.Stanton in B1-225. Exact change is appreciated!

CAS- Creativity, Activity, Service

Juniors and seniors are required to participate in CAS beginning on day 1 of their junior year. Our CAS program focuses on developing balanced young people who understand the importance of creativity, physical activity, and serving others. IB students should spend approximately 1-2 hours per week (for a total of 18 months) engaged in CAS experiences and will also design their own collaborative CAS project which should last at least a month and focus on one or more strand.

Students record their CAS experiences and projects in their ManageBac portfolios.

Ms. Stanton will be the advisor for the juniors (class of 2021), and Ms. Sewell is the senior advisor (class of 2020). We will be visiting the junior classrooms between now and early September in order to fully explain the program.

More information about CAS is available at https://www.pisd.edu/Page/18970

Join the IB Booster Club!

This parent-led group supports the IB by offering scholarships, paying for our field trip to the IB college fair, and hosting special events like tailgaters, Senior Showcase, IBSSA meetings, and the stole ceremony. Membership also guarantees your child's spot at two practice PSAT/SAT/ACT testing dates.

We would love to have 100% participation this year, so please join at https://planoeastib.membershiptoolkit.com/

IB Flags

Our flags in the IB Commons represent the heritages of our IH and IB students. If your family's home country is not represented, please contact me directly at karen.stanton@pisd.edu.
