Principal's Message

Dear Bard Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I look forward to working together to fulfill Hueneme Elementary School District's vision of inspiring and empowering every student to thrive daily.

Visit our school website, https://bard.hueneme.org/, to see news and upcoming events and to find relevant school information. You also need to download the Parent Square app to receive real-time school announcements. Please stop by our office; we'll gladly help you set it up.

I want to introduce and welcome the following members to the Bard family. Claudia Zeledon will teach Transitional Kindergarten/ Kindergarten, Lacey Nickols will teach Kindergarten, Katy Novoa will teach fourth grade, Almacynthia Leon will be teaching 3-5 special day class, and Gabriela Mendez-Molina will teach TK-2 grade special day class.

Our school district has installed security cameras to keep our campus safe and secure. Also, we will only allow parents to enter campus in the morning for the first two school days, from August 22 to August 23. Beginning August 24, all parents must drop their children off at the front, back, or side gates. Any parent wishing to enter campus at any time of day must sign in and have a previously arranged appointment with the teacher. Campus supervisors will be assigned to all areas where children will wait to go to class in the morning and the afternoon when they dismiss.

Please contact the front office if you have any questions.

Richard Bard PTA Needs You

We were fortunate last school year to have had a fantastic PTA president, Jennnifer Zachary. Unfortunately, she will not be able to continue as our PTA president for much longer; therefore, we need a PTA president. If we do not have a president, we do not have a school PTA, and that will set us back from all the progress we made in providing enrichment programs and experiences for our students.

If you are interested or need more information, please get in touch with our PTA present, Jennifer Zachary, at bardpta8055@gmail.com

Student Safety 1st During Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Please support our effort to keep our students safe by respecting the no-parking areas.

When picking up and dropping off your students at school, ideally, we would ask that you park on a side street or in the school parking lot and walk your student to a school entrance.

Rear Parking Lot: If you drop off or pick up students at the side gate of the rear parking lot, please stay to the right, nearest the yellow line at the fence. Staying to the right will allow other vehicles to exit around those vehicles still waiting for their student(s).

Lillian Drive Gate: The gates at the rear of the Bard playground is available for student pick-up or drop-off. The Lillian Drive cul de sac is staffed during pick-up and drop-off times and is significantly less crowded. It is an excellent pick-up and drop-off area alternative.

IT IS NOT SAFE AND IT IS ILLEGAL TO PARK ON PLEASANT VALLEY RD DIRECTLY OUTSIDE OF THE KINDER CLASSROOMS. There is plenty of parking in the school parking lot, and it is much safer.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping everyone safe!
