White Dolphin
Book by: Gill Lewis Presentation By: Alex Farvour
Theme
Kara wouldn't let anybody put down Angel (white dolphin)
Kara never gives up on finding her mom. She keeps insisting that her mom is out there.
Characterization
1.) Kara is saving the white dolphin. She won't let anybody put down the dolphin in any way. (This example shows that Kara is always thinking of others animal or not)
2.) Jake and Ethan are making fun of Kara's dad and her family. Kara doesn't care, so she just walks away and doesn't listen. (shows that Kara doesn't care what others think and she just worries about herself)
In conclusion, the main character, Kara, in the book White Dolphin, shows who she is in many ways through characterization.
Figurative Language
One example is at the part where Kara is tearing paper from the bible and crumpling it up in her hand. The author writes, "It flutters in my hand, like a tiny bird." (Simile, it implies Kara's emotions through the paper)
"It spills light like a trail of milk upon the water," the author writes. (Simile, and it helps set the scene of that part of the book)
