DEADLINE EXTENDED!
Make sure your student gets in the SMS yearbook!
We are changing the way we do our yearbook pictures this year. Students are able to take a selfie and use it for their picture. We still hope to have school pictures later in the year, which can be used for their Yearbook picture, but this is a fun way for us embrace Distance Learning.
Please see more information and click on the PDF link below from our Yearbook Staff:
• Go to https://high5.id/p/qpq4m to take your picture. Make sure you have your student's ID number handy.
• You or your student will take their selfie portrait on your phone or computer webcam and upload.
• Photos are sent directly to our system and are used to create yearbook portraits and school IDs. This entire three-step process only takes a few seconds. If your photo is rejected for quality issues, you may be asked to retake and submit.
Don’t forget to order this year’s historic yearbook before we run out! Your student will not want to miss out on all of the stories that are making this year so unique.
Buy today [online through the Stanwood Middle School website] for only $25.

Recipe for Success
Happy New Year! New month, new year, fresh start with distance learning!
One of the easiest ways to help your student succeed with distance learning is keeping things simple and organized. If your student does not yet have a solid routine in place, I suggest you try two things:
1. One Class Per Day: Have your student do one class’ homework per day, starting with 1st period on Thursdays since that is when new work is released each week. Then 2nd period homework on Fridays, 3rd period homework on Saturdays, and so on, keeping in mind that each week’s work is due at the end of every Wednesday.
2. Make a list: Take a look at the picture below to give you an idea of how to organize the list of homework each week, by class. This will make it easy for you and your student to have a list and stay organized together. You can write this on a piece of paper, on a whiteboard, or use Google Sheets to create a spreadsheet (even with tabs by due dates).
Please email me at KFox@stanwood.wednet.edu if you would like help with this.

Yearbook Snap App
Even though we are at a distance, our yearbook can bring us together! Mr. Wall and the yearbook staff are asking people to submit photos at any time through the Yearbook Snap App or their computer. The flyer down below explains how to do this! Any photos can be sent in to our Yearbook staff!

In case you missed it last time, here is our Open House Staff Slideshow - 2020/2021
Typically a big part of our Open House is our introduction of staff in the gym and then students are able to tour the building and see those staff members in the classrooms. Because we are not able to be in person this year Mr. Wall, our wonderful multimedia, yearbook and keyboarding teacher, has put together a slideshow to allow families to see faces, to see what peoples roles are in the building, and to see contact information for everyone!

Accessing Student Email
Google Classroom Access
