Volunteers needed for 8th Grade Reality Check
The Reality Check (formerly the Reality Store) is set for March 18, 2020 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Chesterton Middle School, 651 W Morgan Ave.
For more than 20 years, this event has been preparing 8th grade students from the Duneland area on how to be successful in life after graduation. Students are given a predetermined salary that they would earn in their chosen profession at age 28. During the Reality Check, students visit tables where they pay such expenses as taxes, housing, childcare, etc. Some do end up in bankruptcy, while others may have a little money left over at the end. The ones that have remaining funds can “spend” their money on imaginary rewards such as investments, trips, concerts, motorcycles and so on.
The Reality Check is organized by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce and the Duneland School Corporation. The event takes over a 100 volunteers each year. Volunteers are welcome to take part in the Reality Check for either a half day or whole day on March 18, 2020. Morning sessions are from 7:30 to 11:45 a.m., and afternoon sessions are from 11:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Breakfast and lunch is provided for all volunteers. Volunteers should contact Michelle Hunsley at the Duneland Chamber of Commerce at 926-5513 or by e-mail at michelle@dunelandchamber.org.

Join the CHS Alumni Association!

The CHS Alumni Association was formed to help support the enhancement of the Duneland School Corporations' educational processes and scholarships for graduating seniors at Chesterton High School. Your dues in the organization will help the group to continue to grow and present more and more of our graduates college assistance. We will also honor teachers, administration, and support staff (alumni) into their respective ''Halls of Fame” at our first annual banquet to be held on May 7, 2020 at Chesterton High School.
Interested in getting involved in the Alumni Association? The group welcomes the help of our membership to assist us in achieving our mission to raise funds for student scholarships. Please join us for our next meeting on Thursday, March 12 at 4 p.m. at the Duneland Administration Center, 601 W Morgan Avenue in Chesterton.
The Chesterton High School Alumni Association welcomes all former CHS alumni, and present and past faculty and staff members of the Duneland Schools to join the Association. Annual membership dues is $15 per alumni or Lifetime membership is a one-time fee of $150.00 minus your age. (Example: $150.00 less your age of 60 years would equal dues of $90.00).
