This Week in Science...
Ecosystems!
March 10, 2013
Dear Families,
My name is Melissa Hlavacka and I am very eager to begin the school year here at Glacier Creek Elementary! I will be sending out frequent newsletters to keep you updated on what we do in the classroom. Our first science unit will be focused on ecosystems. Your third grade scientist will be exploring what exactly an ecosystem is. We will start out learning the basic components of an ecosystem and will explore how many parts of an ecosystem are connected. Furthermore, we will investigate why ecosystems are important and how they affect our daily lives.
When is Science?
We will be having science class weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00-2:50. On the alternate days, we will be having social studies class during this time period.
We Want YOU Involved!
We would love to have parent volunteers come into the classroom to help out during our science period. On our first day of this unit we will be exploring our nearby forest. We would like at least five parent volunteers to help out during this exploration field trip. If you are available next Monday, March 18th to help out, please let me know!
