Ms. Anderson and Mr. Moore's Wellness classes did some work in the library on website evaluation. 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students will soon be starting research on addictive substances. Before sending them out into the world of Google, students learned how to evaluate a website and look for specific things to make sure they are finding reliable sources of information.
Ms. Cummings' 6th-grade English students started a unit of strong characters. Students came to the library for a "book tasting." Students had the opportunity to spend a short amount of time with a number of books from different genres. Each student chose two books to try.
Ms. McLeod's 6th-grade English students started off Trimester II with Book Speed Dating! Similar to a book tasting, students sat at a table with books from one particular genre. In five minutes, they read the book's summary, read the first few pages of the book, and shared what the book seemed to be about with the rest of their table. When the bell rang, students moved to the next table to try a new genre of book. Book Speed dating was a big success! Most students found a new book to check out.
