Goals lead to Successful Beginnings for 2015-2016
The beginning of the school year is filled with anticipation, excitement and nervousness for adults and children alike. Goals have been written and rewritten and a successful school year is typically a common goal. But what does a successful school year look like?
Success is defined as "the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one's goals."
But what does a successful school year look like? The key to success is having clear and measurable goals AND writing them down. Take the time to not only write your goals as the educator, but talk with learners about goals and have them write their goals. Revisit those goals periodically with learners. Give learners feedback during the year so they know where they are in regards to meeting those goals successfully.
As you greet the new school year and continue to plan for 2015-2016 challenge yourself and your learners to do 4 things:
Create a Vision - what does success look like this year? "Begin with the end in mind".
Make it Measurable - make a list of goals.
Set Benchmarks - keep on track.
Celebrate Success - celebrate along the way and review your vision.
Have a SUCCESSful 2015-2016 school year!
