Mrs. Walters' News
The American Heart Association 's "Kids Heart Challenge" kicked off on Jan. 22! The students have learned what it means to have a heart healthy lifestyle. Please note- ALL funds donated for this program will go directly to the American Heart Association! I received an update from our organizer that we have already raised $925- great job!
The annual Flat River Outreach Food Fight will take place for two weeks- 1/21-2/1! Our goal as a building is to FILL THE SHOWCASE in the front hall! Please send in items with your child and we will publish counts. Winning classes (based on the number of items) will get a pizza party and we are partnering with high school student leaders to make this a success.
It is going to be bitterly cold next week! Please help us by making sure you tell your child they MUST wear all their winter gear outside. Our district policy is that we go out if the temperature is above 0 degrees.
We are in need of donations for our PBIS prize cart that students purchase things from every other Friday. If you have any stuffed animals, toys, art supplies, bouncy balls- really anything- that you would like to donate, please send in with your child or drop off in the office!

January is National School Board Appreciation Month!
Many of you probably don’t know the members of our school board, as their work is done behind the scenes. However, I do want to recognize them here in our newsletter, as they volunteer MANY hours to our district and have done an amazing job of guiding our district to the success we have had over the years. Please join me in thanking each of our eight school board members from left to right: Kelly Kroll is the LHS student representative on our school board this year. Gary Blough, Pat Nugent, Jim Turner, Laurie Kuna, Dan Stephens, Brian Krajewski, and Tom Kaywood (not pictured).
