Principal Message

Hello Lyn Knoll Families!

It's difficult to believe that we are already 3 weeks into the school year. I am happy to report that we have had a very successful beginning! Teachers and students have been working hard to create a strong school culture through daily Class Council meetings and our weekly whole school Community Meeting. During this time, we celebrate our 7 Habits of Leadership and student successes. We invite you to join us every Friday at 8:30am for our Community Meeting. All families are welcome!

On Wednesday, September 12 from 4:30pm-6:30pm Lyn Knoll will be hosting our 1st Annual “Fall” into Literacy Night! Please join us to learn how your child is learning to read and how you can support him or her at home. Every family will receive a bag of books, dinner, and will be able to participate in a variety of fun reading games and activities. We look forward to seeing all families there!

Finally, at Lyn Knoll, student safety is one of our biggest priorities. In order to ensure every student arrives and is dismissed safely, we ask all families to follow the following expectations:

- Absolutely No U-Turns on 2nd Avenue

- All students must cross 2nd Avenue using the crosswalk

Please remember that not only does this help to keep all students safe, it is the law.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns. Thank you for allowing us to serve you and your children every day!

Visitor Check in System and Requirements

Lyn Knoll has implemented the APS District Wide Raptor Security System to check in our visitors. This system reviews a nationwide database to check backgrounds on individuals that that visit our school, including all APS employees, authorized Volunteers and District Approved Contractors.

It is required that you provide us with your government issued ID which will then be scanned in the system. You will then be issued a visitor sticker that must be worn at all times while you are in the building and must be returned to the office upon exiting the building. Please be prepared with identification every time you visit our school. If you have any questions or concerns please contact our office.

For more detailed information, please contact our APS Security department directly.

First Grade News

We have had a great first few weeks of 1st Grade! During this time, we have worked on building our classroom community. We have gotten to know our classmates in many different ways by sharing about things we like to do and what makes us each special. In our Morning Meetings, we are learning how to be fantastic 7 Habit Leaders and learners. First graders are also learning about many classroom and school routines that will help us have a positive and successful year. Take a look at some of these great examples:

PeachJar - Flyer Communication

Our new electronic flyer communication system, Peachjar, will be launched throughout the district and at Lyn Knoll Elementary School on Thursday, September 6. This new system will be utilized to post all of our school flyers online as full-color so that they are all stored in a safe environment and serve as a reminder for you so that you don't miss out. A Peachjar button will be placed on our website the day of launch and a link will be available on the monthly Dragon News as well, for your convenience.
