WHPS RLE Community School
October 16, 2020
Message from the Principal
Good afternoon,
Thank you for taking time to review the updates and information below. We will continue to share newsletters every other week and ongoing email updates for specific items as needed.
As shared by Superintendent Moore last week, we will continue our Remote Learning School (RLE) option for West Hartford families. Elementary students attending school in-person will shift from a hybrid to a regular school schedule on October 21. This change in "brick and mortar" school schedule will impact our online RLE staffing/schedule for specials (art, music, physical education) and World Language workshops, so please stay tuned for School Messenger email updates and updates from your classroom teachers next week.
Have a great weekend and stay safe,
Kerry Jones
Remote Elementary School Principal
Director of Elementary Education
UPDATES & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Remote Learning Toolkit Pick-up
Pick-up location is at Town Hall (entrance near the parking lot flagpole) on
Wednesday, October 21 from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
In the event of inclement weather (rain or thunderstorm) we will cancel pick-ups and send an email that morning by 10:00. Families have shared feedback that an outdoor pick-up location is preferred.
We will schedule pick-ups later this fall for any additional needed materials to support student learning. Please note if you are in the PreK ELC you already have the materials you need.
Remote Learning Elementary (RLE) School Community Directory
Please click here for the Remote Learning Elementary (RLE) School Directory for 2020-2021 as of October 2.
We have new families who join our school each week. If you are a new family who would like to be added to the Directory or a family who has not yet completed the RLE Directory Survey, please complete by clicking here by October 23. Updates to the RLE Directory will be added and shared in the newsletter at the beginning of each month.
Please note that the RLE Directory will not include any student or family information without your permission or completion of the survey. If you wish to update information in the Directory, please contact Sarah_Falvey@whps.org in our RLE School Office by October 23.

I apologize for the unanticipated technology issues we had with our initial Remote Learning Elementary (RLE) Community Parent-Teacher Council on Tuesday night this week which prevented us from meeting. The link was not accessible by all or accessible only by phone for some families. I recognize that many of you made special arrangements to attend. I will be in touch by email with those who expressed interest in participating on the Council or requested more information. Meeting rescheduled to October 26 with new links!
In the meantime, if you are interested in serving our school as a representative on the districtwide Parent-Teacher Council (PTC), please email Kerry_Jones@whps.org by Monday 9:00 a.m.. The first district PTC meeting is next week. Serving as a representative is a commitment of five Monday evening meetings (7-8 p.m.) this year plus attendance at our Remote Learning Parent-Teacher Council Meetings (anticipated 5 meetings this year).
