Valerie's Vision
This week, I attended a High Ability Coordinators conference. The high ability department led by the state has recently seen many new leaders. This year, Cindy Schuler, the new IDOE High Ability coordinator, wanted to put a new twist on our meetings. One of the activities that we completed when first entering the room was to think of our favorite Halloween candy, and then think of how we are like that candy.
I shared that I love Reese's cups. I was asked to share with all the attendees why I was like this candy. Of course, I'm sweet like the chocolate on the outside, but I can also get a little salty like the peanut butter in the middle.
Feel free to do this activity with your students and see what kind of creative responses they come up with.
As our students slowly coming down from their candy binge, I wanted to share a list of what your favorite candy says about you as a person. Think of your favorite candy and click on the link to see what it says about your personality: https://www.thekitchn.com/this-is-what-your-favorite-halloween-candy-says-about-you-225158
This Is What Your Favorite Halloween Candy Says About You
Not all Halloween candy is created equal when it comes to trick-or-treating. When you put on that costume as a kid and trekked out in the cold to collect your loot, you secretly hoped that house just might have a little extra of your favorite candy. A Snickers bar?
"On Halloween, kids get to assume, for one night the outward forms of their innermost dread, and they're also allowed to take candy from strangers - the scariest thing of all."- Kate Christensen
