S.T.A.R. Incentives
Responsible (STARs) are awarded with a certificate, a shout-out on morning announcements and some sort of incentive (candy, pencils, free cones, subs, etc). We are shooting for 500-600 somethings (candy, pencils/pens, complimentary cones, sandwiches or drinks from businesses/establishments, etc). If you are able to help in any way, you can drop off whatever the donation is, in the main office or we would be glad to run out to your place of business and/or residence. We thank those of you who donated this past week. Your support is greatly appreciated!

MakerSpace
Makerspace is coming soon to the third floor of the SMS Media Center!
What is a Makerspace?
A Makerspace is a place where students gather and often work collaboratively to "make things." Materials and resources are provided. Materials may be "high-tech" such as 3-D Printers, digital cutters, electronic circuitry kits, and video production materials "Low-tech" materials available include craft supplies, fabric, and building toys just to name a few. Emphasis is placed on creativity, collaboration, innovation, and problem solving. Maker activities support learning targets in all content areas.
As we begin our Makerspace creation as Strongsville Middle School we are looking for donations of materials you may have available in your home.

Guidance Update
Located in various parts of the school are QR Codes in which students can use their phone to access a Google Form to request a meeting with a counselor. This is a discrete way for students to speak with their guidance counselor. Keep this in mind as you have conversations with your child on a day-to-day basis.
School Counseling Needs Assessment for Parents
Please take a moment to complete the school counseling needs assessment for your child's grade level (see links below) to help the school counselors identify which topics they need to be addressing with students through their school counseling programming and lessons this school year. The needs assessments will be available online until Friday, September 30th. Thank you! Your feedback is very valuable and much appreciated!
