International Night - Donations Needed!
On Friday, May 6, King Philip Middle School will be hosting this year's International Night to celebrate KP's cultural diversity! Last year, we had over 200 people attend this event, and this year, we hope it will be more.
We have an amazing committee of teachers helping to organize this event, but we are always more than happy to accept donations such as: paper plates, plastic silverware, plastic cups, napkins, serving utensils, streamers, balloons, and water. Please deliver any donations to Marisa Tamayo. Any questions, you can contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, if your family is interested in attending the event, the deadline to return permission slips has been extended to Wednesday, May 4. Please click on the link below for the permission slip and make sure to join us! https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8VH2Eh7ZcftUU5tWHpnQmczOUVTZ19FRUxBdGppR3JZTXo4
Thank you in advance for everyone's support!

Be Homeful Project
My name is Grace Furia and I am a 6th grader doing a project on homelessness for my Quest project. In addition to learning about homelessness, I am doing a community service project. The Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness does many fundraisers. One of them is the Be Homeful Project and I have created a team. The link for my team page can be accessed by clicking on the link: https://www.crowdrise.com/greaterhartfordcan/fundraiser/gracefuria

We Want to Get in Touch with the Best Teacher You Know
During Teacher Appreciation Week on May 2-6, the U.S. Department of Education wants to say thank you to some great teachers. Recommend a friend, a colleague, your child’s teacher, or a teacher who inspired you! Tell us about a teacher you want to highlight along with a few details about why they are great and how we can reach them. We hope to directly contact each nominee but cannot guarantee that we will be in touch during that week. We may also use this information for additional teacher highlighting purposes throughout the year.

The CT Breast Health Initiative Holds 13th Annual CT RACE IN THE PARK!
The CT RACE IN THE PARK takes place annually each May on the Saturday before Mother’s Day in New Britain’s historic Walnut Hill Park. This year, the race will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2016, rain or shine! Each year, thousands gather to participate in race day festivities and events while honoring survivors, remembering loved ones, celebrating life and most importantly, raising much needed funds to advance the fight against breast cancer in Connecticut. By joining The Race, pledging your support or becoming a valuable sponsor, you help raise awareness and funds to support the fight against breast cancer. 100% raised in Connecticut stays in Connecticut. Join The Race. Join the cause.
The RACE includes the male/female 5K Run at 9:15 am, 1 Mile/4K Walks at 10:15 am, 4 Kids’ Races, live music, food, kids’ games, and our famous Touch A Truck. Come join the fun!
