Keeping Our Teens Safe
When your family is home cell phones belong on the kitchen counter, not in pockets and never in bedrooms. This may be the single most effective thing you can do to keep your middle school student out of trouble. These days it seems all trouble stems from something on social media. Students need to know you own the phone and that you will be glancing at it when it dings or rings.
SCCPSS Operation Beacon
The District is launching "Operation Beacon" as a new focused initiative to increase the number of volunteers who are currently working with our schools. The official launch of the OPERATION BEACON VOLUNTEER PROGRAM this school year allows us to organize and capture our volunteers’ enthusiasm for education and passion for serving our schools.
Please click the link below to sign-up so that you may volunteer throughout the year. Our students are counting on you.

History of IB
Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a non-profit educational foundation offering four highly respected programmes of international education that develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. Schools must be authorized, by the IB organization, to offer any of the programmes.
Coastal Middle School has been an authorized IB World School since 2010. We offer the Middle Years Programme which has a hard-earned reputation for high standards of teaching, pedagogical leadership and student achievement. We work with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. The opportunity to be a part of this world-wide organization provides our students with a well-planned educational map with which they can navigate to meet the demands of our fast-paced, technologically advanced global marketplace with the skills and confidence to succeed.
