Field day will be postponed to Spring. Coach, A-team, and I are working on the perfect date and I'm already predicting no rain! (FINGERS CROSSED)
DISCONNECT to CONNECT
I once heard it said the "Love is attention." I don't know about you, but during the business of life, I often neglect to give the ones I love the most my full attention. Instead, I attempt to divide my attention between my loved ones and the work that I need to get done. Half listening while doing dishes, making lunches, or checking that email that just popped up. We all know that isn't very effective.
During this Thanksgiving week ahead, I challenge you (and me) to disconnect from school. Leave work behind so that your full attention can be placed on your loved ones.
I'm sending this on THURSDAY for a reason - I don't want you to feel compelled to check your email over the break. Instead, I want you to completely disconnect from school. Don't take those papers that need grading home with you. Leave them at school. They will still be here when you get back. Take this break to give attention to your family, your loved ones, your friends, and to yourself.
This Thanksgiving week, I can honestly say that I am so thankful for each of you. I'm so grateful to work with such selfless people who give of themselves and of their time every day for the benefit of our school and our students. For this week ahead - remove the worries of lesson planning and data and parent conferences and take time for yourself and your family and your friends. If it is true that "love is attention" then give your attention not to the work that needs to be done, but to the people in your life that you are thankful for. Show them you care by giving them your full attention.
DISCONNECT from school and email and work so that you can CONNECT with those around you.
Happy Thanksgiving to the absolute best school staff in the state of Texas!!!
