The Lee’s Summit School District and Great Beginnings Early Education Center are excited to welcome the Early Head Start program to our district and community. Early Head Start is a weekly in-home visit program, serving prenatal to 3 years of age through our Head Start and Parents as Teachers programs. Please call 816-841-3382 to set up an application appointment.
You can also visit our GBEEC webpage to learn more about our early childhood offerings.
Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (CFMP) - first online survey available
This school year, we are engaging families, students, staff, and community members around the development of a new Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (CFMP) for Lee’s Summit R-7 schools. During Fall 2018, we will ask community members about their priorities around short and medium-term solutions to meet current capacity needs in the district. We will also focus on our community’s long-term vision for developing learning environments that are available to all students and encourage future ready learning.
During our first engagement series, we will discuss “big picture” considerations around the future of our schools. We want to learn about your priorities for our learning environments, programmatic equity, and capacity in our schools. Our “Current Needs” online survey is now live and will run through September 17. You can visit the survey by clicking here, or by copying and pasting the following link in your browser: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LSR7CFMP1
You can learn more about the CFMP process, including upcoming meeting dates in September, by visiting our website: lsr7.org/cfmp/
We hope you’ll engage with us in this unique opportunity to plan for our needs and envision the future of our schools. Please also share this with your family and friends. We want to hear from as many members of our community as possible this Fall.
How can I get an infant/child car safety seat installed?
Safety seats for infants and toddlers are legally required, but difficult to install properly and are dangerous unless the job is done correctly -- the Police Department can help.
A trained technician is available to assist you with installing your child safety seat. This service is free of charge. Technicians are available on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., but you must call in advance to schedule an appointment with a technician at 816-969-1710.
Prior to arriving for your appointment:
- Fit your child into the seat, adjust the harness to the correct level (Rear Facing – at or below the shoulders and Forward Facing – at or above the shoulders).
- Install the seat in your vehicle. If you have questions, consult the car seat manual.
Requirements:
- You must bring your owners manuals for both the vehicle and the car seat.
- You must be the original owner of the car seat. Any seats coming from garage sales, consignment sales or purchased second hand will not be checked. Second hand seats cannot be verified as safe.
You can also visit www.carseatcheck.org to find a local install station by searching your zip code.
