Welcome Back to School!

We hope you have had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. If you are a returning student and family, welcome back! If you are a new student and family to Eastland Elementary School (EES), welcome! On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to offer a sincere welcome to every EES family and student.

As principal of EES with one year under my belt, I am extraordinarily blessed/lucky to be starting my second year. Our school/district is an amazing place to be! Please find below a wealth of information that will set us up for success for Back to School!

Just a little about me for our new families!

My passion is centered on supporting students and families by supporting staff. I believe in personal connections, strong relationships, and trust to move work forward as a team. Having worked in education now for 10 years, I know how important the home-school connection is. Parents are every child’s first teacher and the ones who know the students best. By working together, we can make sure to meet each child’s social, emotional, and academic needs. Before joining you, I was a first grade teacher, preschool teacher, and an instructional coach in rural southwest Wisconsin. I came back home to serve as a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Coordinator and Assistant Principal in Freeport, IL. I have a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Educational Administration.

I am excited to continue growing roots at Eastland Elementary School!

Class Lists - In the interest of student safety, confidentiality, and in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), class lists will not be published on the front doors of EES or EJSHS this year.

Parents and Students will be able to find out who their teacher is in a few different ways:

1. Back to School Postcard - postcards will be sent to families home. These postcards will have a scratch off section to reveal who their new teacher is!

2. Skyward - teachers will be listed in your students Skyward account on August 10th.

3. Back to School Night - when you attend back to school night, you will receive notification of who your child's teacher is if you missed the postcard.

Back to School Night

K-5 Back to School Night will take place at EES from 4:00pm-6:30pm on Monday, August 15th. Students will find out who their teacher is as they enter this event if they haven't found out via the postcard or Skyward. Students and families will have the opportunity to come visit the school and classrooms. Please come with school supplies, if possible.

This year I will continue with a Sunday night school reach message. This phone call will contain information about the upcoming weeks. This phone call is intended to streamline communication and reduce the number of papers coming home to families. I will also continue to send an accompanying email with the information from the call.

Please make sure your emails are updated to ensure that you are receiving all the correct communications.

SMORE - A reminder that smore newsletters will also be released via Eastland's school Facebook page (click below for direct access) and on the Eastland website at eastland308.com.

We are allowing visitors back into the building. If you are interested in visiting and/or volunteering, please follow the procedures outlined below.

Volunteering in the Classroom - If you are interested in volunteering in classrooms there is a Form and Waiver of Liability that must be completed. We are asking that all previous volunteers complete a new form as well. These forms are available in the main office at EES. Below you will find a copy of the form so you can review what information we are reviewing and collecting in order for you to become a volunteer. Please allow a 1-2 weeks for review and potential approval.

Lunch with you Kiddos - If you would like to eat lunch with your kiddo, please call the EES Main Office in advance (the day before or the morning of) to let us know you will be joining. Parents that are joining for lunch will need to bring their own meal.

All Visitors - Anyone in the building without a badge will be asked to return to the office for appropriate sign-in. This procedure is in place for the safety of our children and staff. Thank you for understanding and support as we continue to make school a safe place for children.

Making sure our students have their nutritional needs met is important to us here at school. Students in all grade levels are allowed and encouraged to bring snacks each day to school.

We want the focus of the snack to be on the healthier side. Please avoid chips, cookies, candy, etc. as a snack for your students.

Below is a list of approved and encouraged snacks

  • gold fish
  • cheese sticks
  • pretzels
  • squeezable fruits and veggies
  • fruits and veggies
  • popcorn
  • crackers
  • granola bars
  • fruit snacks

Classrooms will have the opportunity to decide if they would like families to help with a community snack if there is interest.

If your child has medication or an EpiPen that needs to be given at school, you (the parent/guardian) must bring the medicine with the proper pharmacy label applied, and the proper form filled out to EES.

Also check out below what health/medical updates are needed so your kiddo can start school!

Please contact Nurse Britt with any additional questions.
