Parents: We are very excited to finally have students returning to school for in-person instruction next week! It obviously has not been the same without students in the building and as you can imagine, it's going to look different with our students back.
As a reminder the rolling re-entry plan is as follows:
Monday, September 21: Kindergarten and K-8 self-contained special education programs
Monday, September 28: Grades 1-2 and self-contained early childhood
Monday, October 5: Grades 3-4
Tuesday, October 13: Grades 5-8 and ECDEC/blended early childhood (junior high in hybrid model).
There are several ways you can help prepare your child for coming back to in-person instruction.
Most importantly, is to help your child get accustomed to wearing their mask for longer periods of time. Students will be required to wear a mask at all times when they are on the bus and while in the school. The only time students will not have their mask on is when they are eating or when they are outside and can be 6 feet apart (recess and gym). The rest of the day, they will be wearing their masks, so the more comfortable students are wearing masks now, the better it will be for everyone when they return..
Also, please remember that every child must wear their certification lanyard EVERYDAY to school and be ready to show it to the adult before the enter the school. As the Parent/Caregiver, you will be responsible for signing and dating the blue card on the lanyard each morning.
TJ School Supply Pick Up-September 17th
This Thursday is our second round of supply pick up. Your child's teachers have put together some supplies for your child to have at home to use while learning remotely.
With the rolling re-entry plan, some grade levels will be returning earlier than others.
Monday, September 21: Kindergarten and K-8 self-contained special education programs
Monday, September 28: Grades 1-2 and self-contained early childhood
Monday, October 5: Grades 3-4
Tuesday, October 13: Grades 5-8 and ECDEC/blended early childhood (junior high in hybrid model).
Parents of students in Ms. Bartello, Mrs. Fletcher, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Paraskevas, and Ms. Raz classrooms do NOT have to pick up materials since their return date is 9/21/2020. Ms. Jensen will have materials for her Kindergarten students to pick up.
You can drive to the school anytime between 7:30-3:00 on Thursday.
If your last name ends with A-K you will drive up to the front of the school.
If your last name ends with L-Z your pick up will be at the north end of the school in the bus turnaround.
If another family is picking up your child’s supplies please email Mrs. Pezzella, our school’s clerical at pezzelll@ccsd15.net or call the office 847-963-5403 by tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
Similar to before, it will help us out if you can also write your child’s last name on a piece of paper to display from your car.
The School Environment
Thomas Jefferson is doing everything we can to have students and staff stay as safe and healthy as possible. We will be limiting student movement during the school day, with adults traveling to the students as opposed to students moving throughout the school.
Although we have always welcomed parents and visitors to our school, we are limiting visitors to the building. If there is something you need to get to your child or child's teacher, we ask that you drive up to the front of the school and call the office at 847-963-5400 and we will come out to the car and gladly help you.
Below is information on some of the most important procedures we have put in place that I think parents need to know about right now. Please click on the tab to learn more about the topic.
