CDS - First Program
The Weekly Word from CDS FP, Mar 9–Mar 13, 2020
Hello First Program Community,
We have welcomed two students into our FP community. When we return to campus, I am excited for Kindergarten and Grade 1 to each have a new student. Ellie Cho joins Grade 1, and returning to Kindergarten, we welcome back Jiwon Kang. These two are now part of e-learning, and will come to school as soon as campus opens. Welcome!
Daily check-in with teachers via Zoom or Chat will occur throughout Week 4 of e-learning. All classes have either already begun or experimented with this. It enables students to communicate with and view their classmates and teachers. Socially and emotionally this is important for students (and teachers, too!). Everyone I have spoken with—students and teachers—says the same thing: they very much are looking forward to school resuming as normal. Let’s hope so!
Please view some pictures below of what e-learning has looked like around FP this past week.
Below there is an update about the mini-project that each class started a few weeks ago regarding clean hands and our devices. Enjoy Mr. Bray’s video this week, and Ms. Kim’s video next week.
Thank you to students and parents for all of your effort in participating in e-learning thus far. I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. We look forward to seeing you digitally throughout the week, and in school, after Spring Break!
Educationally Yours,
Mr. Hill
Director of First Program

Bread Swabbing Project
Students from each grade level touched a group 1 bread “Dirty Hands”, and then they were split into two groups: one with hand sanitizer and the other with soap & water. Grade 2B students guessed that the dirtiest one will be one with Chromebooks and they guessed right! We can see it from this picture that "Wiped on Chromebooks" is the dirtiest among the other variables. I hope everyone wash their hands often!
