A Reminder about Masking:
The East Greenwich School Department has remained committed to following the recommendations set forth by the RI Department of Health and the CDC.
Last week Governor McKee and the Rhode Island Department of Health announced a masking requirement for all public schools in Rhode Island. Additionally, on August 17, 2021 the East Greenwich School Committee approved an updated # 4141 COVID 19 Health and Safety Protocols and Procedures requiring masks based on Rhode Island transmission rates. Transmission rate information can be found in the Rhode Island Department of Health COVID-19 Data Tracker.
State requirements supersede local policy on all matters of public health. Per the Governor’s executive order, all faculty, staff, and students, regardless of vaccination status, are currently required to wear face masks when entering a district facility or attending school.
Masks/face coverings are required to be worn by everyone on the bus during school bus transportation by federal order unless guidance is updated.
Masks/face coverings are not required for outdoor activities.
Student-athletes will follow the athletic guidance from the Rhode Island Principal’s Committee on Athletics, the Rhode Island Interscholastic League for sports. RIIL Fall Guidance can be found here
We are excited to welcome our students back to school and have prepared for a healthy and safe learning environment. We know from our experiences last year, the mitigation strategies implemented worked and helped keep our schools safe. We will continue to partner with all state agencies and make any adjustments to East Greenwich School Department PK-12 Health and Safety Protocols for the 2021-2022 School Year as necessary throughout the year.
Thank you for your support and partnership as we prepare for a full in-person return to school next week. Best wishes for a pleasant Labor Day weekend.
Respectfully yours,
Mrs. Meyer

The same bus and stop are for the morning pickup and the afternoon drop-off.

We are excited to announce that all East Greenwich Schools are now 1-to-1. Every student has access to a Chromebook.
This note provides information for elementary, middle and high school parents and students about our expanded Chromebook access and changes to our technology program.
Elemetary Schools:
- A Chromebook cart is now in every classroom K – 5 with one device for every student in the class.
- Elementary students will not be bringing Chrombooks home.
Cole Middle and East Greenwich High School:
Middle and high school students will bring their Chrombooks home every night and bring them back to school fully-charged each day. With increased opportunity comes additional responsibility. We need everyone’s help to maintain and keep these new Chromebooks in good working order.
If a middle or high school student has a problem with their Chromebook:
- Show it to a classroom teacher or library media specialist and they will create a repair ticket for the device.
- Loaner devices are available at each school so students will have a Chromebook to use while their device is being repaired.
Families wishing to purchase insurance from a third-party company may do so. Purchasing Chromebook insurance and submitting claims is the sole responsibility of the family. Many East Greenwich families have purchased Chromebook insurance from Worth Ave. Group in the past. A no-obligation quote is available from the Worth Ave. Group at: https://www.worthavegroup.com/portal/egsdri.
The Loans of Electronic Devices to Students and Staff policy has been updated . Policy #10000 can be viewed here. Please note Appendix Chromebook Repair Cost Schedule.
