QUICK NOTES

VETERANS DAY PROGRAM: The Veterans Day program will begin at 1:30 p.m. I need all classes to start heading to the gym around 1:10 p.m. I know that is early, but there will be a lot of people and it will probably take that entire time to get everyone seated. I will have a section of the bleachers reserved for FLS (usual place) and a section reserved for parents. That means we will need to have at least kindergarten and first grade sitting on the floor in front of the bleachers. Upper grades should sit at the top of the bleachers like usual. We have about 60 students participating in the program so that will help create some space on the bleachers as well.

I would like to meet with the Music Makers and my Veterans Day program group right at the start of school. We will run through the program one final time and then I will send them back to class. I have also built in some time in the music schedule for Kim to practice with the Music Makers right before the program.

All Veterans Day participants will need to head to the gym at 1:00 p.m. Band members will need to get set up, programs will be passed out, etc.

Lastly, students and staff participating in the wreath ceremony will receive a carnation to place on the wreath. We will read the names of the students and who they are honoring during the ceremony. I would like all the adults participating in the ceremony to state the names of those you are honoring, branch of the military, and relationship. We will have a microphone for you to use. A list of the students participating is below. Please note that we may have some additional ones to add to the list on Monday. Teachers, please help us out by telling your students when it is time for them to come to the front. I appreciate your help!

END OF THE DAY FOLDER & NOTES HOME: Be sure that you have a student pick up the end of the day envelope no later than 2:15 p.m. and please make sure that all papers are distributed that same day. You may not have time to read the papers before passing them out, but often times the papers are time sensitive. For example, I saw a student carrying a form for the wreath ceremony home on Friday. I'm a bit nervous that we will have missed some students and their family members for the wreath ceremony. The flowers have already been ordered, the program has already been made . . . We have also had bus/car rider notes not passed out and that creates some problems at the end of the day. Again, be sure to pass out all papers the day they are enclosed in your folder. Thanks!

STAFF DEVELOPMENT ON TUESDAY: If you haven't already done so, please read the chapter on vocabulary instruction prior to our training on Tuesday. It will help facilitate discussion, and you can be prepared to ask any questions that you have.
