LEARNING & BEING CURIOUS TOGETHER AT FRH - THE SEVEN SACRED TEACHINGS
While many Indigenous communities use the Seven Sacred Teachings or the Grandfather teachings as a way to pass on culture & important characteristics, not all do.
These are the cornerstones of community and behaviour towards others in hopes of carrying these teachings with you to help communities survive and thrive. The fourth teaching we’d like to share with our Haythorne community is the Wolf.
The wolf bows his head in deference to others and puts others in the community/pack first. It reminds us to be humble and respectful of those around us as well as to show humility to all.
Grade 9 Farewell
We have started conversations with the classes and will let you know any information once we have confirmed our plans.

THE 2021 HAWK FILM FESTIVAL “SWEDE FEST!”
APRIL 30TH, MAY 1ST AND MAY 2ND
This year's festival will be online and a link will be attached to our F.R. Haythorne webpage before the opening date. You will be able to watch it as many times as you want in the 3 days.
What is a "Swede" film?
Tribute movies are nothing new, but the term SWEDED is a call back to the 2008 film “Be Kind, Rewind”. The summarized recreation of popular pop-culture films using limited budgets and a camcorder. The process is called “Sweding”. These remakes are unedited with only a single take per scene. The tapes are described as having come from Sweden as an excuse for higher rental fees and longer wait times.
The film festival is going to be tons of fun! We hope that you can make some time to view the creativity of our students!
