Google Meet Recordings
Frederick County Public Schools staff is providing live virtual instruction as an important part of the Full Virtual Model of instruction. In the event that students are unable to attend live virtual instruction via Google Meet, these sessions or parts of these sessions will be video and audio recorded. The recorded session will be available for students who would like to review that content and instruction. We are balancing student privacy and the need for flexibility during this unprecedented pandemic.
The Frederick County Public Schools Parent Guide to Google Meet Recordings, Student Privacy and Security sent via a system Find Out First (FOF) message this morning provides an overview of how the Google Meet recordings will be used and the methods used to ensure student privacy and security (LINK). Please review this Parent Guide to help understand how Google Meet recordings will be used in instruction and the security safeguards in place to protect student privacy.
Parent permission is required for teachers to record your student in the Google Meets. Teachers may begin recording beginning the week of September 8, 2020. Parents have two ways to let schools know whether or not their student has permission to be recorded in Google Meets.
Option #1: PDF form (MYES Google Meet Recording Form Link) that can be filled out and returned via email to christine.umberger@fcps.org
Option #2: Google Form that can be filled out and submitted online provided by your child's school or classroom teacher- https://forms.gle/4qycXSLmysYHL9u66

PTA Corner
The Myersville PTA would like to welcome you to the new school year! This year definitely doesn’t look the same as any other, but we will all make the best of it.
The first thing I would like to address is our organization as a whole. At this point we are still officially a PTA, despite the end of year vote to shift to a PTO. We have undertaken the necessary steps to create the PTO and are awaiting our 501c3 status to be approved. Until that time we will continue on under our old association. I know that we can’t promise the fun events, dances and social gatherings that we have done in the past, but we would still ask you to consider joining so that you can contribute your individual thoughts and ideas on how we move forward this year.
The PTA has a Facebook page (Myersville Elementary PTA or click https://www.facebook.com/ groups/147748431973037 ) - please feel free to come and join the page even if you are not a member! We have also created groups for each grade level for families to jump on with questions and help for others.
We are not asking for volunteers as event chairs at this time but we would love a volunteer to sign on as a webmaster to keep our PTA website up-to-date. We still have a fantastic teacher appreciation chair who has agreed to continue to show the teachers and staff how much we are grateful to them.
Please feel free to email the PTA at myersvillepta@gmail.com with any questions!
Even though we can’t be together in person, we want to feel connected as a school. With that in mind, please stay tuned for information about SPIRIT WEEK which we will have the second week of school.
Respectfully,
Chara Embrey PTA President
Kate Bladen PTA Vice-president
Dawn Miskell PTA Secretary
Aaron Anderson PTA Treasurer
Counselor Corner
Counselor Intern
Hello Myersville, I am Mr. Brian LoRusso, a school counseling intern in my final year of field work. I am working towards my master’s degree in school counseling and have been teaching and coaching children of all ages for over 10 years in various fields. I have served as a college baseball coach for local Hood College in Frederick for 3 years and am an assistant professor of physical education, running classes in yoga and leadership development. Hood represents a school counseling program that is nationally accredited by the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), which is an extraordinary honor in the field.
At Brunswick Middle School, I served my first set of field work duties by running socioemotional groups, activities, and individual counseling sessions. My experience also extends to volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of America running small groups for the elementary age brackets as well! At Myersville, I will be helping and running lessons and group work virtually multiple times a week with Mrs. Eccard, as well as assisting her with any other student needs.
I grew up on Long Island and graduated from New Paltz State University in New York, where I earned my bachelor’s degrees in psychology and finance management. I enjoyed dean’s list and academic All-American honors in my four undergraduate years as a collegiate athlete. My role models are my parents, brother, and high school counselor who opened my eyes towards this career path. My dream is to become a school counselor and coach one day soon! I have a passion for helping people and look forward to getting to know the students, staff, and Myersville community this year!!
Communication
Find Out First - This will be the main form of communication this year. All guardian email addresses are automatically uploaded to Find Out First at the start of the school year. If you don't have an email in our system or haven't received these emails, please go to

Farm Applications
All students received a paper application in their Student Material Kits. If you are unable to complete the application online, please complete the paper application and return it to the school. You can return it in person, fax it to (240)236-1901 or scan and email the application to marsha.meredith@fcps.org.
MYES Vision Statement
