From the Desk of Mrs. Adelman - PSSA Information
Dear Warwick Parents,
I want to make sure that you are all aware of the school steps that lead to next year's student classroom assignments.
The professional staff are involved in placement decisions for our students. Classroom teachers are asked to summarize the academic and social growth of the students in their classes in preparation for classroom placement decisions. The entire grade level team cooperates with the Student Support Counselor, Reading Specialists, and me to determine each individual child’s placement. The whole team takes part in creating combinations of children to form balanced classrooms. The classes are designed to be heterogeneous with a wide range of characteristics, needs, and abilities (academic, social and emotional). We carefully examine the strengths, needs, and personalities within each homeroom group. The grade level team reviews each child’s needs in relation to the classroom groups created. Once we believe the classrooms are well balanced, the teachers have completed their part of the process.
Following the completion of the professional staff phases, I review the class groupings again, but from a school-wide perspective to match the class with a specific teacher.
Students will have an opportunity to meet the teachers of the next grade level on Move-Up Day.
If you have information about your child’s learning style that you feel is important for the Warwick placement team to have prior to placement, please send an e-mail to me (aadelman@cbsd.org) that includes that information on or before Monday, May 1st. While we value and consider any information you provide and will give it careful consideration, there is no guarantee about specific placement requests. Please be sure to meet the May 1st deadline.
Please do not request a teacher or request that specific students be placed with your child.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Amy M. Adelman
Warwick Principal

STEM Challenge
Each year the state of Pennsylvania issues a STEM challenge to students in elementary and middle school. This year two teams from Warwick Elementary entered that challenge locally at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This year’s STEM Challenge was: “Major environmental issues, including climate change and pollution, are currently facing our world. Your team is being tasked to research environmental issues, identify one that your team would like to address, and create a solution to that issue. Build a prototype out of K’nex that supports your solution.” The students involved were The Science Girls, Julie and Viviana, from Mrs. Dessalet and Mr. Kirsche’s fourth grade classes and The Oceanologists, Emily and Andrew, from Mr. Heine’s fifth grade class, along with their friend Addison from Mill Creek Elementary. They did a lot of work to prepare, including keeping a journal, making detailed written plans, and building a model with K’nex. The teams had to prepare a two-minute video showing all of their hard work. They were very creative and did an outstanding job. Andrew and Emily’s team were invited to the second, and final, round of the competition and won the prize for “Most Creative.”

Upcoming Spirit Week
Warwick Spirit Week
Hello, our fellow bears and our Warwick family. Some of our 6th graders came up with a Warwick spirit week! The spirit week is inspired by showing kindness while making sure everyone has fun! April 17th-21st
Monday, April 17th: Smiley day! (Wear bright colors to represent happiness.)
Tuesday, April 18th: Tie dye day! (Wear tie dye or rainbow clothing!)
Wednesday, April 19th: Sports day! (Wear your favorite sports gear.)
Thursday, April 20th: Crazy sock day! (Wear silly socks that describe you.)
Friday, April 21st: Pajama Day! (Wear any cozy pjs)
Coin Challenge
As part of our spirit week our other goal is to raise awareness for the Philadelphia Children’s Foundation. To raise money for this incredible foundation we are going to be hosting a coin challenge! The coin challenge encourages students to donate loose change/monetary donations. There will be grade level collection bins in the main atrium for all donations throughout the week of April 17th-April 21st. The grade level that collects the most change will receive an ice pop party.
About The Philadelphia Children’s Foundation
This children’s foundation provides school supplies for students and teachers in need.

Pretzel Sale!
On April 20th our 6th graders are hosting a pretzel sale. Each pretzel will be $1. The proceeds from the pretzel sale will go to the Philadelphia Children's Foundation.
Field Day Volunteer Information
Hello Warwick Families! Field Day is fast approaching on Friday June 2nd with a rain date of June 9th. We are looking for parents who would like to volunteer their time to come run a station on this fantastic day.
The time slots are split between morning (AM) and afternoon (PM). If you want to come for the full day, you can sign up for both time slots. It is also broken down by grades (K, 1-2, and 3-6) so you can choose which grade level you would like to work with.
We ask that you make sure you can be available both days (June 2nd and the rain date of June 9th) before you sign up for a time slot. We never know what the weather will bring at the end of the year.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Kelly Langlois at klanglois@cbsd.org.
Congratulations Power Paw Winners!
