Primary News:
Spring is here! The weather has been, well, unpredictable. It made for fun times outside. It was shorts weather one day and snow the next! We can all feel the excitement of this change of seasons.
- We got out the bikes and opened the sandbox. We did a hike in PE with Jack.
- Practicing our play was new and exciting, especially for kindergarteners.
- We will begin hiking with kindergarten students on Wednesdays at 2:15pm. Parents are invited to join us. We are warming up for our graduation hike!
- Children are pouring, sorting, transferring and counting Spring/Easter items. Sewing cards have been popular. Students learn to thread a needle, tie a ‘magic knot’, and sew in a sequence increasing in difficulty.
- Children made God’s Eyes with yarn and popsicle sticks this week in Monica and Sheilla’s class. Thank you to Karen, Cortez’s grandma for helping with this art project.
- We are finishing up our study of North America and several students completed maps of North America.
- New work in Math includes subtracting with objects.
- Our Read a thon fundraiser is beginning, so find some books and enjoy reading!
- We have two field trips planned this Spring. On May 5th, we will visit the Hotchkiss Fire Station. Thank you to Chris Holder for helping to plan this trip. We will be back to school for lunch and half-day student pick up.
- We will also be visiting a Yak Farm in May! Details coming soon.
- We invite parent volunteers to join us on these trips.
- We will celebrate our wonderful assistants this Friday with a special luncheon and gift baskets. We are so grateful to these amazing teachers and teammates! Thank you Sheilla, Lanamae, and Cortney.
Happy Spring!
