Good Attendance Matters

Attending school regularly builds confidence in students. Starting in Kindergarten, missing too much school can cause students to fall behind. Students missing more than 9 days in a school year is considered poor attendance and causes them to fall behind academically.

The WA State Attendance Law and the district attendance policy is as follows:

WA State Attendance law requires the school to schedule a conference with the parent for those students who have accumulated 3 unexcused absences and/or 5 excused absences in a 30 day period.

The district requires parents to provide a doctors' note for any student who accumulates more than 7 excused or unexcused absences.

Drop off and pick up

Arrival time: Students may not be dropped off before 8:45am, there is no adult supervision before then. Once students are dropped off they will be escorted to the gym where they have the option to eat a free breakfast. Our school policy is that any adult who wishes to visit their student or volunteer in any capacity must first complete the 'volunteer application' and be approved.

Pick up: Students may be picked up as early as 3:55pm on normal dismissal days and 2:25pm on early dismissal days in your students classroom. Teachers walk their class to the bus starting at 4:00pm and 2:30pm on early dismissal. You may pick your student up in front of the school after 4:00pm on normal dismissal and after 2:30pm on early dismissal days.

Bus Procedures

If you want your student to ride a different bus other than the one he/she regularly rides or get off at a different stop, you must send a note or call the office @ 253-298-3300. Without a note or call from the parent, the student will go home the way they usually go home.

Detailed bus information is now available on line at Guest is the username and password.
