TODAY IS THE DEADLINE TO ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK!
Details for remote students to pick up their yearbooks will be communicated at a later date.
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL OPHUS
Dear Fairview Families,
It’s hard to believe that Spring Break has arrived! I hope you and your family are able to enjoy some additional time being together and that our students enjoy a well-deserved week off. They have really been working so hard this year, and I am proud of them for all they have been able to accomplish both at home and in the classroom. We will resume our hybrid/remote model of instruction once classes resume on March 29th. Friday, April 2nd is a non-attendance day. Tuesday, April 6th is a previously scheduled district-wide institute day. Thursday, April 8th and Friday, April 9th are recently added institute days to prepare for our upcoming change to full in-person/full remote instruction beginning on April 12th.
After looking through all of the parent data this week, I am happy to announce that we will have fully devoted remote learning sections at every grade level. In 2nd and 4th grade, there will be two sections of full remote learning with the remaining four sections devoted to full in-person instruction. In 3rd and 5th grade, there will be one section of full remote learning with the remaining four or five sections serving full in-person learners. While we will still need to provide live stream options for some remote learners in specific programs such as enrichment and some special education settings, all remote learners will also have ample time with a fully devoted remote teacher. For our in-person learners, I am currently working on calling families to see if they may be willing to switch teachers to help make our overall class sizes more balanced. We are also working on developing procedures for our lunch hour to ensure we can eat our lunches in a safe manner. As more plans unfold, I will continue to update you.
As mentioned last week, coming up after Spring Break is our seventh annual Disability Awareness Week. During this week, we take time as a school to help raise student awareness about different disabilities, complete activities with students to build understanding and empathy and celebrate that, at Fairview, we all fit together! While still being updated, here is a link to some of the types of activities we will participate in throughout the week. Lastly, when you have a moment, take a look at this week’s video newsletter from Mrs. Durkan at this link for some updates and celebrations. Have a wonderful Spring Break!
Sincerely,
Dan Ophus
Fairview Principal

DONATE TO DISTRICT 57 FAMILIES IN NEED
COVID-19 has presented many unique hardships and challenges for some of our family members, friends and neighbors. Some parents have asked if it’s possible to make a financial donation to help support District 57 families who are currently in need. The District has set up a system to facilitate this for anyone who is interested. We will distribute the collected funds to families, based on formal requests that are made. If you would like to donate, simply go to this link and follow these steps:
- Click on “Make a one-time payment.”
- Fill in your student’s name, school and grade.
- Click “COVID-19 Donation to District 57 Families.”
- Fill in your information and donation amount, then proceed to the payment section.
Thank you so much, in advance, for your kindness and generosity.
Those who are in need of support can fill out this online form. Names will only be seen by select district personnel who are distributing the funds.
Thank you,
Adam Parisi, Ed.S.
