Virtual Parent Teacher Conference Sign-Up
Parent Teacher Conferences are a very important opportunity for communication between home and school. We look forward to having the time to share information about the progress of your child(ren).
The District has set aside two days for virtual conferences during Thanksgiving week. We appreciate you making yourself available during these times to meet with your child’s teacher. The conference dates are Monday, November 22nd (2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) and Tuesday, November 23rd (8:00 a.m.– 2:00 p.m.)
There will be an email from the District Office coming with directions on how to sign-up for your virtual Parent Teacher Conference. If you have additional questions, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher.
Board of Education Meeting- Monday, October 18th
The District 181 Board of Education will convene on Monday, Oct. 18, in the Hinsdale Middle School Cafetorium, 100 S. Garfield St., Hinsdale, for its regular business meeting. The meeting will begin with executive session at 6 p.m. with the regular business meeting to follow. Meeting Preview: COVID-19 Protocols Our region is currently in Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois Reopening Plan. The State of Illinois continues to require masks in a school setting, regardless of vaccination status. As a result, masks and social distancing are required during the meeting. Community members may still access the meeting via live stream at www.d181.org/board-of-education/audio-live-stream. Public Comment Any member of the public may attend the meeting in person to make their comment. Masks are required during public comment. Per Board Policy 2:230, each public comment will be limited to 3 minutes.
Unity Day- October 20th
WEAR AND SHARE ORANGE to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.
In honor of Unity Day this year, the PTO has scheduled Matt Wilhelm to perform at Prospect School on Monday, October 18th. We are so excited to have him back and hear him share his messages about respect, responsibility, and resilience. The assembly will be outside and students will be sitting on the blacktop. The weather forecast for Monday looks like it will be sunny with a high of 71 degrees.

October 29th- Lunch, Fall Party and Costume Parade
Modified Lunch times for Grades 1-5: Kindergarten will follow their normal schedule in the am.
Modified lunch hour for all students in Grades 1-5: 11:45 – 12:45 PM (Students may go home for lunch and change into their costume.)
If you need your child to stay for lunch at Prospect on Halloween, they should bring their costumes in a bag to dress into during the lunch hour. All other students should change into their costumes at home during the lunch hour. PM Kindergarten students may come to school at 12:45 with their siblings, or attend at their usual time.
Costumes: Costumes should be appropriate for a school environment and elementary age school children and should not reflect violence. Costumes that reflect blood and gore should not be worn. Costumes should be designed as to not block the student’s vision. “Look alike” weapons are prohibited at school. Costumes should not include make believe guns, knives or weapons of any kind. Keep in mind that students will be walking during the parade and sitting in classrooms for the parties.
Parade: The parade is from 1:00-1:30 PM
Weather permitting, parents, siblings, grandparents, etc are invited to watch the Halloween parade. Please look at the map below. The parade route has been lengthened to ensure their is plenty of room for all who is viewing the parade to social distance. Students will walk on the sidewalks, so please stand in the grass so the students can pass by safely. In the event of inclement weather, our parade will take place in the building for students only.
Class parties will take place after the parade.
