After the academic session, students learn from three other sessions on our Advisory Days
- This month we’ll focus on our unique leadership skills and how to work with other leaders to make this school an even better place.
- This month we will be learning the ins and outs of establishing relationships: As they form new friendships, high school students face different challenges than they did in younger grades. Although students at this age often know the concrete steps to building new relationships, barriers can get in the way, including negative thoughts (such as, “this person is going to think I’m so awkward”), strong feelings (such as fear), and lack of skill (such as uncertainty about how to introduce oneself). Students will learn strategies for overcoming these barriers. Try this activity with your student at home: Encourage your student to think about the strong relationships they currently have and what they did to help grow and strengthen them. Ask: which of the strategies they identified could be used to create new relationships?
- Career / College session will focus on Naviance, checking next year’s schedule of classes, and for seniors a credit audit to ensure they are on pace to graduate.
Blood Drive - Monday, January 15
The Versiti Blood Bank Blood Bus will host a student and community blood drive at Cedar Springs High School on Monday, January 15 from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Students ages 16 years of age or older can donate.

If 16 years of age, you must have the parent/guardian consent form filled out before donating

You must bring a photo ID
Contact an NHS member or Ms. Covey to schedule your appointment
Student donors will be excused from class during their appointment time, approx. 60 minutes to check ID, donate, rest, and snack time to ensure wellness post-donation.
All attempting donors will receive a Versiti T-shirt (while supplies last)
Important Notice: High School Attendance and Grades in PowerSchool
As we approach the end of the semester, please be aware that the high school Quick Lookup number reflects only excused and unexcused absences for your student. Absences after the winter break still count and can impact your student's final grade/GPA.
- Attendance Policy: For details, please review the policy below or view the High School Handbook.
- Medically Excused Absences: If you have absences that qualify for a medical excuse (such as a doctor, dentist, counseling, or physical therapy visits), ensure to submit a signed note by fax (616-696-4016) or in person before January 19, 2024.
- Course-Specific Queries: If you have questions about a specific class, please contact your student's teacher directly.
Your attention to attendance matters is crucial for your student's academic success.

This series of 30-40 minute sessions will highlight professions in a variety of career pathways, allowing students to learn more about a career of interest, or to explore new options.
