Note from the Principal
Thank you to all the parents and guardians who work tirelessly at home to prepare your child for school each day and night! Thank you to the amazing PTO that supports the work of our staff at GES! You are the MOST AMAZING PTO in the land! We could not do what we do without the support of our parents and the PTO.
This is a challenging year with redistricting. I am sad to see so many of our students move on to 5th grade and to the new school. However, our district is excellent and filled with amazing schools and staff. Your children will be loved, challenged and cared for in all of our HSE Schools. Thank you ALL for your support of GES through the year(s). You are appreciated, will be missed and always will be a GATOR!
Thank you to the amazing staff that goes and above and beyond for our parents and students. We will miss all the staff going to other schools and taking on new chapters in their lives. Congratulations and thank you to Liz Stinson who is retiring after 33 years of education. Well done Ms. Stinson and thank you for your service to all students through your years of teaching in HSE and French Lick.
We have five days to go and we look forward to finishing strong! Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your amazing children with us. We are grateful you have placed your trust in your neighborhood school to educate your children!
Have a fun, safe and restful summer!
Christi Thomas, Principal

HEPL Library Card Information
In partnership with the Hamilton East Public Library, HSE students can use their school ID numbers to access the many databases and resources available from HEPL. To give permission families need to submit the HEPL Consent Form during enrollment one time only. Once consent has been given, the digital card will renew each year. See the photo below for an example of the form.

Student Council packed meals for Million Meals on Saturday May, 11.
We packed 7,600 meals which will be used as backpack meals for students in Hamilton county.
Some of our second grade classes ventured to one of the largest outdoor classrooms today, Victory Field! Using our math and social studies skills to enjoy the game through a different perspective was a “grand slam.”
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
Thank you and congratulations to the most recent Friends of the Library members. Books have been donated by (March) Ella C., (May) Alex C. and Mallory W.

Global Studies Snack Tasting
Dear parents and caregivers,
During the week of May 20th students will be tasting a dried fruit called a Date. This is a very common fruit/snack in middle eastern countries like Pakistan/India and many locations in Africa too. These locations are some of the ones we have been discussing in Global Studies. Please take a look at the nutrition label below. If you do NOT wish your child to taste the Dates, please fill out the Opt-Out form by following the link below and submit your response by May 10th.

Information for Rental iPad Collection
iPad collection will start on Thursday, May 16th and continue until Thursday, May 23rd according to the following schedule:
KG – Thursday, May 16th
1st Grade – Friday, May 17th
2nd Grade – Monday, May 20th
3rd Grade – Tuesday, May 21st
4th Grade – Wednesday, May 22nd
Any leftover iPads will be collected Thursday, May 23rd. If your child is absent during collection, devices can be returned to the Administration Building, 13485 Cumberland Rd., Monday-Friday between 7:30am and 3:30pm
If this is your student’s first year renting, the charging brick/cord are yours to keep for future devices. The district only supplies bricks/cords to first time renters and does not supply replacements.
Each student will receive a paper confirmation to take home that verifies their rental device has been turned in. If there is damage to the device, the district tech department will document and assess any necessary charges and will notify you at a later date. Detailed information regarding preparing devices to be collected has been sent out via Skylert, but in order to help iPad collection at GES go as smoothly as possible here is a short list of things you can check at home to make sure your child’s iPad is ready to be turned in:
o Passcode is removed
o iCloud (Apple ID), iTunes, & App Store accounts are signed out
o Stickers/tape/nametags are removed
o Headphone jack is clear
