6S Snippets

Our last unit of study is a sixth-grade favorite. Kidpreneur combines our study of entrepreneurs from the beginning of the year with a study of basic economic principles, such as supply and demand, the roles of producers and consumers, and the idea of a free market economy.

Students will be working individually, or as part of a group, to produce products that will be sold in our Kidpreneur Marketplace. Each student may spend (with your permission) up to $10 on supplies to make their products. The idea is for students to produce products using simple materials that other students will enjoy and want to purchase. Items that have been sold in the past include, paper airplanes, items made of duct tape, bracelets, etc. We will begin making products next week.

Bike Hike

6th Grade Bike Hike is Friday, May 19!

Bike Hike permission forms will arrive in your inbox soon. Please complete and return them as soon as possible. Each student will need their own helmet (no dirtbike helmets, please) and a bike in good working condition (please check brakes and make sure chains do not fall off). Your child will also need a sack lunch and refillable water bottle that day.

Parents are invited to ride with us or meet us at the park to participate in the day's activities with your child.

The LeRoy Police Department has some helmets they may be able to donate. If your child is in need of one, please let me know as soon as possible so we can contact them.

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is back! The book fair will be hosted by the Crumbaugh Library on Thursday, May 11. All proceeds will benefit books for our classrooms here at LES. This is a great time to purchase books that will keep our kids reading over the summer. We will be walking to the library on the afternoon of May 9th to preview the book fair.

Concert May 16

Our spring music concert is Tuesday, May 16th at 6pm. Mr. Scott his helping our class prepare two awesome songs using guitars, drums, pianos, and vocals. You will not want to miss it!

7th Grade Visit

Also on Tuesday, May 16, we will visit and tour the junior high. Weather permitting, we will walk down to the junior high immediately after morning attendance. Mr. Baughman will host a Q&A session to answer any questions that our students have about the junior high and we will also take a tour a visit a few of the 7th grade classes in progress. We will return to our classrooms before lunchtime.
