Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
March 20th-24th
What's Going On This Week:
- Ms. Harris' Science: This week we will continue with our weather unit, learning about the water cycle and types of clouds. There will be a quiz on Lessons 1-3 next Tuesday.
- Ms. Shipp's Social Studies: This week we will continue our discussions on Land Acquisitions. We will also begin discussions on the Indian Removal and essential vocabulary. Study guide on Westward Expansion will be given to students this Wednesday. The unit test will be Friday, March 31st.
- Mrs. Leonard's Math: This week we will practice measuring and drawing angles with a protractor.
- Mrs. Thurston's Math/ELA: This week we are finishing elapsed time, quizzing Tuesday, and starting Geometry on Wednesday. This week we will be continuing our Poetry unit! In Writing we are continuing figurative language (Idioms/Personification) and using it in our writing.
- Ms. Harris' GT Math/ELA: On Monday and Friday, we will be taking Reading and Math MAP tests. We have moved Math Stars to Tuesday at 11:30 this week. In Math, we will be continuing with geometry, learning about quadrilaterals, triangles, and symmetry. In ELA, we will be analyzing the mood and tone of poems and constructing our own poetry using two different moods and tones. There is no spelling this week due to MAP.
Report Cards Go Home Wednesday
Please sign and return the signature card and envelope by Friday.
Spirit Day on Friday
Students are encouraged to wear FMES spirit wear and colors (blue/yellow) on Friday.
Spring Dance Friday 6-8pm
Come enjoy the spring dance at FMES on Friday. Book fair will also be open during that time!
Other Information:
- On Wednesday, weatherman Keith Monday, is coming to speak to the fourth grade about weather forecasting.
- Book Fair will start Friday and go to the following Thursday (30th).

We will be doing the JDRF Cure for T1 Diabetes Fundraiser this year. The kick off assemblies will be Monday, March 27th and the JDRF walk will be held Friday, April 7th. More information to come about this great event.
