Happy Last Day of School!
Dear Lander Families,
Summertime has come and we have had a wonderful school year, we are grateful for you sharing your children with us! Our students have had many great experiences this year and we believe that the strength of our community and wholehearted passion that our staff has to make our school a wonderful place of learning for our students makes Lander a truly special school.
A foundation for the support of our school is our Lander Parent-Teacher Group, a thank you to them for supporting activities and resources for our students!
To all the parents and guardians, thanks for getting your kids to school on time each day (with two little ones of my own, I know the challenge!), for kind notes of encouragement that mean so much, for sending your kids with big smiles each day, for making sure homework gets done… and turned in. Thank you for providing rich and engaging, well-rounded experiences for your children and knowing that education is about joy, wonder and fostering curiosity, along with the development of social skills that are necessary to succeed. For these, and a million other things, we are truly grateful.
To those families who are leaving us for new places and adventures, we wish you all the best!
Reflections...
As we reflect on our academic achievements, we are thankful to the Ohio Department of Education for recognizing our ongoing efforts in STEM education. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) principles are a way in which we have begun to shift towards providing students with learning experiences to prepare them for the future!
Did you know that it is predicted by 2024 that there will be a combined 39% increase in positions such as software developers and computer systems analysts? We want to begin to prepare our children now to think critically, be better problem solvers and have experience with robots, coding, and other technology so they are well positioned to be successful in the future.
Our work will continue next year as we continue to increase the number of devices that our students have access to at school. Next year, we will have a set of tablets in every Kindergarten and 1st grade classroom, a set of Chromebooks in every 2nd grade classroom, a set of laptops in every 3rd grade classroom, a set of chromebooks in every 4th grade classroom and our 5th grade students will receive a chromebook to take back and forth to school each day! 5th grade parents, please keep an eye out for information from the District. On August 1st from 6:00-6:45 there will be a District meeting at the High School to pass out the Chromebooks to 5th grade students and provide families with more information. Please see this website for the latest updates.
Keep the learning going...
