Tisch's Tidbits
ISTEP
Wow, I am so amazed with these 23 amazing kiddos. They have worked so incredibly hard showing what they know on ISTEP. Today is our final day for part one. High fives all the way around!
Indiana State House Field Trip
Thank you to those who have already sent in the permission slip for the field trip. We will be eating lunch at school before leaving to go downtown. If it makes it easier for your child to buy their lunch like usual, then make it easy that day. :) If you would like to send a packed lunch, that is ok, too. The packed lunches don't need to be disposable
Book Orders
Book orders came home on Friday. If you would like to order. Please place your online order to me by this Friday.
Two ways to order:
1. Go online to: scholastic.com/newparent
Look up my name
Or enter our Class Code: GT8L9
Follow the instructions to place your order online
2. Check off the books you want to order for your child and return this flyer to me with a check to Scholastic Book Clubs by this Friday.
House Shirts
You probably noticed your child has a shirt with their House name on it. The kids wrote a student grant for them and it was granted! Everyone has a shirt in their House color! They also were granted some math and spelling games. They did an AWESOME job and the credit totally goes to the them. Now they can wear them every Friday to earn House points!
Yearbook Order Forms
Order forms are coming home this week. If you would like one, they are 15 dollars and are due on March 23.
Cancer Awareness Week
So, we have always done a Relay for Life week here at Union. This year it means something a little different to me. My mom's final chemo treatment is coming up and then she will have a month of radiation starting sometime in April. It is certainly a marathon both physically and emotionally. We have learned to take one day at a time and to cherish moments. Having said that, we will be having a special week here at Union starting March 19. Your child will be bringing home a purple packet with information this week explaining everything you need to know. It will conclude with a special movie night.

Planners
It's hard to believe we are almost to the final nine weeks of school! I know I always get a little bit of Spring Fever about this time and sometimes forget to check my kiddos planners. Some days we don't always fill them out, however, I typically always put work habits and behavior in the teacher section. You can always look to see if your child didn't complete their work on time or has a late assignment. I try to notate what it was as well. Same thing with anything behavior related. While we don't have homework often, if your child didn't complete something in class or knows an assignment is due and wants to work on it, they will bring it home. With middle school around the corner, I do hold your child accountable and expect them to be in charge of what they need to do. I give them plenty of time in class and touch base daily with assignments, so they should know what they need to do. :)
Kroger Gives Back!
Now that Kroger is rocking our worlds with their new stores and low prices, they’re also going to help our school!
If you haven’t gotten a Kroger Plus card yet, sign up for one and then add Union Elementary to your Community Rewards organization name.
If you already have a Kroger card simply hop on your computer and follow these easy steps…
1.) Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
2.) Click on “Kroger Community Rewards”
3.) Click on “View your rewards details”
4.) Scroll to “Community Rewards” and click “Edit”
5.) Type in 31364 and hit “search”
6.)Click on Union Elementary, and hit “Enroll”
Let Grandma and Grandpa know how easy that was, and get them signed up too. Now Kroger will give Union a percentage of what you spend which helps in many ways. This small action helps buy school supplies, instruments for music class, and much more. Thanks for your support. If you have any questions or need help please contact Brittany Henney at Brittanykay1@gmail.com
2nd Semester Volunteers
The second semester is here! If you are interested in helping me prepare some things for the classroom or possibly work with a small group, I would love to have your help! I am flexible with times, so just let me know the time you will come. I have a break from 8:30-9:00 each day so this is an easy time for me to show you what to do. My lunch varies on the other days between 12:00-1:00. Thank you in advance for all of your help!
