Taking a shot at 2022
Dear Glazier Families,
Happy New Year! I hope that this was a wonderful Winter Break for each and every one of you, filled with lots of relaxation. As we come into the new year, we have time to pause on highlights from 2021 and anticipate the year ahead. I'm reminded of the quote from hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky: "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." After 2021--a year of continued twists and turns--let's take a shot at a terrific 2022! As always, mindset is key, so if we go into '22 with continued optimism and celebration of what we've navigated thus far, we can hope to be prepared for any twists and turns on the road ahead.
This month has lots of highlights: We will gather baseline data on student proficiency and growth as measured by iReady Diagnostic 2 in Reading and Math. Our testing window is 1/4-2/4: We look forward to recognizing and celebrating student growth, particularly for students who meet 50% of their stretch growth now that we're halfway through this school year (the 90th day of school is this Friday, 1/7). Digital Literacy Week 1/10-1/14 reminds all of our Gladiators about age-appropriate guidelines for online success--lessons are prepped for teachers to guide students through these short informative lessons, schoolwide. We have Parent Conferences the last week of January to maintain wonderful communication and home-school partnerships. Amongst these activities, we have the opportunity to pause and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (1/17) and the legacy of service and love he leaves behind.
Thank YOU for your love and dedication toward your child(ren), which makes Glazier a wonderful place to grow and learn: We hope that 2022 will bring back more in-person activities and opportunities with our families. Until then, thank you for continuing to follow all of our guidelines as sent by Superintendent Lopez last week, and please reach out via email or phone calls if you need anything. Here's to a great first month of 2022!

Digital Citizenship and Online Safety Lessons
NLMUSD Schools will be holding “Digital Citizenship and Online safety Week” in January: Our goal is to engage in digital literacy/safety lessons schoolwide the week of January 10-14. Thank you for your continued dedication in monitoring your child's digital activities and time on the device: Together we can guide students in using learning tools as effectively as possible.
Thursday 1/13 will be our iPad swap day for grades 3-5: Students in grades 3-5 are receiving upgraded iPads with keyboards. This will assist with successful SBAC testing in each classroom during the Spring administration. More information will be sent to the 3-5 teams: Please "save the date"/mark your calendars.
