The Substituting Mind

When I first saw this topic, I was intrigued. I thought "How could someone's Brain fabricate a memory without them knowing??" It is a fascinating thought, so I decided to research it.
Confabulation is when both the Basal Forebrain and Frontal Lobe take damage. It occurs as spontaneous creation of memories.
Confabulation is caused by brain damage, therefore, not all functions of the brain work properly. There are two separate ways confabulation occur, if asked or trying to remember something, there may be a "blank" In their memory, which is immediately "filled" with a past memory. The other way would be the "blank" could be filled in with a memory that never happened in their life.
