The Library Page

@ Legacy Library

It's Chaos in the Library!

To better support students in their search for books to earn Readers Are Leaders genre tags, the library has been re-designed and "genre-fied". It's still a work in progress, but hopefully will enable more independent searching and book choice--key to creating lifelong readers.

What All Great Leaders Have In Common blog article by Mike Myatt (9/20/2010)

"All great leaders have one thing in common: they read voraciously."

Library Exploration And Creation Stations

Visiting the library with your students can be in several forms:

Want to bring them for a whole class check-out?

Check the daily schedule that morning--calling the library works too.

Want to use the wonderful print resources we have in the library to explore animals, machines, or how things are made?

Check the schedule to come in at YOUR Point-of-Need--or if you want me to give students more direction, pull books on a topic/grade level, or do a mini-research lesson, come to the library and sign up on my weekly calendar.

Want to collaborate and have students create something digitally amazing and fun for them?

Come see me in the library. In just a few minutes, if you tell me which standards you want your students to target and a general idea of what you want the end product to be, I have several easy ideas to integrate more technology into your students' daily learning.

Want to send small groups to Exploration and Creation Stations?

This is an opportunity for you to send 3-6 students to work independently on stations we've already planned together to target a standard or research a topic, or to create a digital product based on previous research.

Other ideas?

This is new for me too, but I am so excited to be able to help you teach your students to become responsible digital citizens as we explore and create together in the library.
