Week of Dec. 8 - event changes

Holiday show, Fashion Boutique sale cancelled due to rain

Dear Parents,
As you know Winter Holiday Concert will be held on Wednesday, December 17. There will be two shows this year at 8:45am and 1:30am. Our grade is invited to the first show and we will get red tickets for that show this or next week. If families are invited to attend morning show they get 2 red tickets, afternoon show 2 green tickets. We will need to present tickets in order to enter the auditorium for the show. We cannot exceed the maximum capacity of the auditorium due to fire regulations so please trade tickets with another family if you cannot attend the show for which your class is scheduled.

Our class is performing Peace on Earth and Run Run Rudolf. These are very different and beautiful songs. We were assigned to wear specific costumes. 4th grade is wearing festive shirt under black or dark colored zipped up or buttoned up sweater and black (dark colored) bottoms for Peace on Earth song. The black (dark colored) sweater will be taken off for the Run Run Rudolph song.

If you have a small guitar you can bring it in to be used in a Run Run Rudolph. If you have no guitar, please don’t worry about it. Kids will still have fun performing. It’s a very fast and rock’n roll song!!

If we're worried about parking due to street sweeping; we've got a $7 parking deal at Le Montrose Hotel on the corner of Cynthia and Hammond. There's street sweeping at 10:00 on Wednesdays on a lot of streets around school, so it might be safer to park in the Montrose or at a meter on Sunset. The concert is supposed to be 52 minutes and starts at 8:45 so it SHOULD be okay but you never know.

Refreshments will be sold before the show to benefit the
4th and 5th grade out-of-town trips, and we'll raffle a remote control car and an iPad Mini,...just in time for the holidays! Come early and enjoy extra treats!

4th Grade Holiday Party:

As you already know we're having our 4th grade holiday party next Thursday, Dec. 18th. We're planning a pot-luck with Mr. Navarro's class too. Please see the sign-up genius for volunteers to work and also to bring in items. Thank you in advance for helping out.

JAXX Educational Theater School (JETS) will be directing the school musical once again this year. Students in 1st-5th grades can register online or submit a hardcopy registration form to the JAXX box in the school office.

JETS staff will also be onsite to collect registration forms and answer questions on Tuesday, 12/9 right after school outside the auditorium. Once fully registered, students will receive the dropbox with audition material over the winter break. Classes are held on Thursdays this year, starting on 1/15/15. Registration ends 12/12/14. Register Online or Print Registration Form and Return to JAXX.

Fashion Blowout Sale this Friday has been cancelled at this time due to possible rain. Please have kids go to auditorium instead of the yard. Thank you

This year West Hollywood Elementary will join the city of West Hollywood and the LA County Sheriffs Station in their Annual Holiday Toy Drive. This wonderful community program will bring presents and joy to children in need. Not too long ago many of the children at our school were recipients of this program. Now we have the opportunity to support the very same program that has supported our WHE children.

A sheet was sent home on Friday describing the kinds of presents the kids need and want the most.

For the next two weeks, we will have a big box in the main hallway to hold new, unwrapped toy donations. During the winter show we will continue this effort to spread joy to those in need in our community with another box to collect donations located in the auditorium.

This is a wonderful way to support our community and we hope everyone joins in to donate toys for every child in need!
