Weekly Bear News
As many of you have likely seen through our Find Out First messages, there have been some disruptive events happening in our building over the past week. I want to assure everyone that we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our students and staff on a daily basis. Your children may have noticed an increased adult presence in our building throughout the day today. This includes more staff in common areas as well as more Sheriff’s Deputies in the school throughout the day. I want to commend our amazing staff as they have intervened when students make poor, risky decisions. I also want to relay to each and every parent and community member that when students put other students at risk, we take those actions seriously and provide the strictest consequences available in alignment with our FCPS Code of Conduct. We also coordinate with our law enforcement partners to seek legal charges against any student who disrupts our school environment. As I shared with students today in an announcement, we will not tolerate this behavior.
I am also concerned with the continued conversations on social media that are encouraging behavior that disrupts learning. I implore parents to talk with their children about the use of social media. Talk to them about not amplifying the voices of those who are encouraging disruptive behaviors. Let your students know that their digital footprint follows them after high school.
As always, our staff is here to serve your students in any way we can. We know that as we move into another week, our students will once again focus on the amazing academic and other achievements this school boasts. We wish everyone a good weekend.
