THE WARRIOR WEEKLY

FEBRUARY 22ND, 2016

PRE-TEST WEEK - NO TEST PREP 6-12

This week will be the final week before ISTEP+ testing begins. We have spent a great deal of time preparing our students with our classroom instruction, test prep, lesson plans, and curriculum/standard alignment. This week we allow our students a week of celebration for all their hard work. You as a staff should also celebrate! You have done a TREMENDOUS JOB!

The reward for you and our students, NO TEST PREP THIS WEEK! You may use each day as a Warrior Flex Day, and of course Wednesday will be club day. The schedule which was sent out for the middle school is below. Let's take some stress off our students. Of course, If you feel compelled to continue test prep, you may use materials on the Google Classroom.

THE STAFF SPOTLIGHT

The staff spotlight shines on our boy's and girl's basketball coaches, Mr. McGlothin and Mrs. Wells. For the last five Saturdays, our boy's and girl's basketball teams have been conducting their annual Future Warrior elementary basketball camp. Elementary students in grades K-5 are learning the fundamentals of the game, and are getting a chance to work with our current Warrior boy's and girl's basketball players. This is a great camp for our kids and community. Thanks for all you do Coach McGlothin and Coach Wells.

WES-DEL TO HOST BOY'S BASKETBALL SECTIONAL

This year Wes-Del is excited to be hosting the boy's basketball sectional here in Richard E. Johnson Gymnasium. The athletic department has been hard at work for several weeks in preparation for the tournament. The sectional pairings were just released Sunday evening, and the bracket is below.

THE GREAT DEBATES

It is once again that time of year! The time of year where everyone is heated, and emotions run high. The time of year when two sides cannot agree, and a war is waged! It is time for "The Great Debates" in Mrs. Meier-Fisher's class. This year, I was able to attend a wonderful debate over whether college athletes should be paid. I would like to thank Mrs. Meier-Fisher and her class for allowing me to be a part of such a great class event.

THE WARRIOR COLOR GUARD

The Warrior Color Guard gave a moving performance this past Thursday at our boy's basketball game. The color guard continues to improve and amaze under the direction of Mrs. Chambers! Congratulations Ladies!

BOY'S AND GIRL'S ELEMENTARY BASKETBALL CAMP

The Warrior boy's and girl's basketball programs have been conducting their annual elementary basketball camp for the past five Saturdays. Students in grade K-5 at Wes-Del have been learning the fundamentals necessary to keep our programs moving forward.

THE WARRIOR BOY'S BASKETBALL TEAM PICK UP TWO MORE WINS

This weekend the Warrior boy's basketball team picked up two more wins against Muncie Burris and conference foe Blue River. Both wins push the boy's record to 11-8 on the season, and 5-2 in the Mid-Eastern Conference. The Warriors sit in 2nd place in the conference behind leaders Cowan and Wapahani. The Warriors are in action this Tuesday at Richard E. Johnson Gymnasium versus Southern Wells. Come out and support boy's!
