Public Service Announcement
Parents: What we are being asked to do is not humanly possible.
There is a reason we are either a working parent, a stay-at-home
parent, or a part-time working parent.
Working, parenting, and teaching are three different jobs that
cannot be done at the same time.
It’s not hard because you are doing it wrong. It’s hard because
it’s too much. Do the best you can.
When you have to pick, because at some point you will, choose
connection. Pick playing a game over arguing about an academic
assignment. Pick teaching your child to do laundry rather than feeling
frustrated that they aren’t helping. Pick laughing, and snuggling, and
reminding them that they are safe.
If you are stressed, lower your expectations where you can and
to stay well. That means mentally well too.

A Letter from Mrs. Tryon
Dear Cougar Families,
Beginning this week our teachers will be sending you a "Focus of the Week" page each Monday for the weekly activities in Learning at Home. We hope that this will help you navigate through all the resources provided online and in the packets. Our teachers will be planning as a team (virtually of course) each Monday, reviewing all the activities posted on the Learning at Home page and in the packet. Teachers will send out their Focus of the Week to help parents prioritize lessons and activities. Since our Instructional Specialists will be meeting with teams throughout the day, each grade level’s focus activities will be emailed at various times during the day. For this reason, we are suggesting that your child's school week run from Tuesday - Monday. Please remember that you can work at any pace that your child(ren) needs.
Additionally, the district has asked teachers to begin taking one grade per subject beginning the week of April 13. This documentation (grading) is necessary for our students to receive credit for their Learning at Home. Teachers will indicate what assignments will be graded on the Focus of the Week document. Your child's teacher(s) will communicate with you about how grades will be submitted. Our staff has just received this information and has just begun working on the many components necessary to implement the plan. We ask for your patience as we begin yet another new process in our Learning at Home adventure. Our goal is to make this as efficient and simple as possible.
For those who are printing off packets at home, I am sure you have realized that it is not necessary to print the entire packet. In case you need it, I have included a link to a video that will show you how to print just a few pages. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JX3kh9VsT3ZZDE4NjkbrUBWVE0Ux4k4F/view
So many of you (including our teachers) are now working from home and trying to manage your family, your children’s learning, and all other aspects of your day. There is nothing normal about this, and it is hard! We are all in this together and we are here to help and support you! Most importantly, allow grace for yourself as you are learning to navigate these waters. Every student across the country is being impacted by this crisis, and every child and every family is learning to learn in different ways. As hard as this situation is, I believe this a great opportunity for our students to grow in unique ways. Your children, our students, are going to be okay!
I miss school, I miss the old normal, but mostly I miss your sweet children!
Love, Mrs. Tryon and our Amazing Keith Staff
