What Can Parents See in Google Classroom?
If you send Parents an invitation to your Google Classroom...
Guardians must receive and accept an email invitation from the teacher before they can receive email summaries (must have a gmail account to change frequency of emails received). Parents will only receive weekly summaries, but can change to daily if they create a Google account. Only teachers and administrators can send these invitations to parents.
Parents have 120 days to accept an invitation before it expires.
- The teacher emails an invitation to a parent for a particular student. You can send it to any email address.
- In the parents email program, they open your email invitation and Click Accept.
- If they are not the guardian, they would click "I’m Not The Guardian".
- The parent only receives weekly emails, but can change to daily by creating a Google account and changing the frequency in the settings.
Parents can unsubscribe or remove themselves from Classroom at any time.
Guardian Email Summaries Include:
- Missing work—Work that’s late at the time the email was sent
- Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails)
- Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers*

YouTube
In order to upload videos to YouTube, you need to create a YouTube account (channel). You can create a video from Screencastify, download it to your desktop, and then upload it to YouTube. You can also create a video on your cell phone, and share it via YouTube app on your cell phone.
Once you have uploaded it to YouTube, you can choose how you want people to view your video. You can also use the YouTube editor to edit your video. Please see information below on the different ways viewers can view your video.
- Public Video- Public videos can be seen by anyone at YouTube. They can also be shared with anyone using YouTube. They're posted on your channel when you upload them and show up in search results and related video lists.
- Private Video- Private videos and playlists can only be seen by you and the people you choose. Your private videos won't appear to others who visit the "Videos" tab of your channel page. They also won't show up in YouTube's search results.
- Unlisted Video- Unlisted videos and playlists can be seen and shared by anyone with the link. Your unlisted videos won't appear to others who visit the "Videos" tab of your channel page. They won't show up in YouTube's search results unless someone adds your unlisted video to a public playlist. You can share an unlisted video's URL with other people. The people you share the video with don't need a Google Account to see the video. Anyone with the link can also re-share it..

Zoom (attended for assigned users)
Zoom
Go to zoom.us ---> click sign up for free
A few things to know...
- You can mute all participants by going to participants ---> more (at the bottom) ---> click to check or uncheck to allow participants different abilities
- You can disable student's ability to share their screen by clicking on the arrow beside Share
Zoom, by default, uses a different meeting ID when creating a meeting. It does have an option to use your personal meeting room which is a never-changing meeting ID. We do not recommend using the personal meeting room; always let Zoom create a new ID and then send out each meeting ID to the intended participants.
Keep Your Zoom Safe
- Always allow Zoom to create a new ID
- Mute participants upon entry
- Change screen sharing to 'host only'
- Use the meeting room
- Disable file sharing
- Disable 'Allow Removed Participants to Rejoin'
- Disable 'Join Before Host'
(don't forget to set your time zone to the correct time)
Students do have the ability to download Zoom Cloud Meetings on an iPad and/or an Android device. Students just need the meeting code or link.
Click here for how-to videos on Zoom.
How to Manage Your Waiting Room
Watch this 2-minute video breaking down how to manage participants. Also, check out the blog post below to learn how to secure your virtual classroom.
Please note, in accordance with FERPA, it is possible that if you record a class session with students, their name and face will be associated in the recording. Please keep this in mind as you conduct online classes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call and/or email
