Biztown
We had a fantastic day at Biztown today. The kids worked so hard, and they all did such a good job working to make their business a success! I could not be prouder. Before getting there, I prepared them by making sure they wrote a check to open their savings account. They also entered their balance (from their first payroll check) into their transaction register and filled out their first deposit slip. I was happy to see that all the businesses were able to repay their loans to the bank. Our mayor, The Honorable Julia Martin, was cool as a cucumber under the pressure, and Mrs. Williams and I really liked some of the rules made up by our mayor and Judge Talya; our favorite was that the kids all had to bow whenever they walked past a teacher. Well done kids!!!
Finish Strong
It is normal for the end of the year to get a little crazy, however, my students know that my expectations are the same as they were at the beginning of the year, so you may be seeing a few more "S's" or even "N's" in their conduct cards this last month. I will continue to challenge them academically and in order to do that, I cannot let poor behavior choices get in the way of their learning.
It would be easy for me to give them busy work at this point, but I can't do that because I want them to start middle school confident in their abilities. As I always tell them, they will be the "superstars" in their math and science classes!
